Atlanta 2010
Saturday, 06 March 2010 19:27

Well its the Forth race of 2010.  Dale Jr. has the pole at Atlanta.  Let's see where he comes in at the end of the race.  Hopefully well within the top ten.

Yeah, I know I was really sick of Nascar last year, this year I am listening on xm/satellite radio instead of those idiots on Fox Sports and it makes it much more enjoyable.  Who knew (ok, I knew) that DW, Larry, and whoever the other bigmouth is was so irritating that they were chasing Nascar fans away?  And don't get me started on listening to Micky during the truck race........omg it makes me want to poke holes in my eardrums.

Well the race is over and Kurt Busch is the winner.  Congratulations to Kurt and his new crew chief Steve Addington (who just happened to have been fired from Kyle Busch's Sprint Cup Team at the end of 2009).  Not sure where Kyle finished.

Dale Jr. finished 15th so he is up to 13 in point standings.  At least it wasn't a 35th place finish.

Brad K. got into Carl Edwards and Joey Lagano early on and knocked them out.  Carl Edwards came out of the garage and back onto the racetrack to knock Brad K. out.  Apparently Carl was then black flagged and told to go home for the day.  Well it was a long time coming for Carl to get back at Brad, now he has.........

Daytona and Fontana 2009
Friday, 27 February 2009 11:20

Racing season is well underway with the Daytona 500 and Fontana races done.  Dale Jr. is not doing so well this year.  He is listed as 35 in the points because of a 27 place finish at Daytona and a 38 place finish at Fontana.  Now Dale Jr. seems like a really nice guy but geez I think I am going to have to find another driver to support.  I thought about switching drivers last year but kept with Dale Jr. thinking that the change of ownership and sponsor might get him back that winning spirit; it’s not looking good so far this year either.  I am so glad I didn’t waste any money on the new Dale Jr. gear…..

Actually I was thinking of changing to Kyle Bush.  He is a little pin-head and last year his attitude was terrible, but he seems to be doing better this year with his interviews.  Perhaps last’s years dismal finish in the chase has humbled him to where he is tolerable.  I found myself rooting for him to win the Sprint cup race in Fontana so he could set that record of winning in all three series the same weekend.  One thing is that he can drive and do it well in the truck, nationwide, and sprint cup series.  But do I actually start rooting for him full time or do I stay with Dale Jr.?

I guess I have gone from a die-hard Dale Jr. fan to a fan that just enjoys many of the drivers and wants many of them to win depending on who is doing well in the current race.  I don’t how this happened or why but if Dale Jr. wins, great, but there are other drivers that make me smile inside when they win too.

Watching Dale Jr. miss his pit stall and then drive his way back up front was exciting and fun.  But then watching him not pull all the way into his pit stall and get a penalty just made me laugh my butt off and call everyone to share in his grand stupidity.  Then while I was laughing and sharing that one he goes and wrecks the field; wow, double bonanza.  I really can’t remember laughing that hard in a long time.  So for the entertainment value that race was great.  That all happened during the Daytona 500.  Dale Jr. was much less entertaining in the Fontana race.  He just raced toward the back and then had engine troubles.

I went and looked at the Nascar gear and really don’t like any of the drivers stuff enough to spend the money on it so perhaps I will be a Nascar fan without a particular driver this year.

Off Season 2008-2009
Monday, 26 January 2009 16:51

Well here it is 2009 and the racing season is just around the corner.  There seems to be a lot of doom and gloom going around about Nascar.  The stands were not full at the tail end of 2008 so many talking heads are giving their opinions on what should happen in 2009.  Some of their ideas are quite funny when they are discussing something that has become about BIG money.

I know one thing, if the Nascar drivers really want us, the paying public to feel sorry for them about lower pay and loss of sponsorship they should NOT be showing their homes on Cribs.  And they really shouldn’t be whining about flying commercial instead of using their private jets.  How many individuals sitting in the stands watching those races have a home that compares or a private jet to go anywhere in?  I am guessing not many.  In fact most of those fans went without something vital to have the money to go watch their favorite driver race.

This entire Nascar thing is good entertainment.  Especially if you check out some of the driver user groups, who seem to think they know “their” driver pretty darn good.  I have gotten a lot of entertainment out of reading those “groups” about different drivers.  Some of the fans seem to be a little, how should I say this, fanatical…..yes, that’s a good word to use about how they follow “their” drivers.  I tell you what, if I was a Nascar driver I would have a really tall fence around my property too.  I might be thinking about electrifying that fence.

Anyway following Nascar seems to be like watching a soap opera, there is just a little bit of everything for everyone, except for good races to watch at a price a normal individual can afford.

Nascar Sucks This Year
Wednesday, 17 September 2008 15:32

Well I do believe Nascar and FoxSports/Nascar have reached a new high in the generate things to talk about category. I have watched some of these last races and just shook my head. Please just stop…..let the fans watch the race without all the speculation that is designed to entice the fans….cause oh hell it doesn’t really add anything for the actual fans. You might pick up the odd ball lookie loo who might watch a couple of races which I realize raises Nascar’s earning potential but it has come to the point where you are turning the actual fans away from the “sport”.

Please, I just want to watch the race, not hear about everything you think is going on behind the scenes. I can check online later to see the rumors, the standings, and anything else I might want to check.

I believe that by now every single Nascar fan in the world has realized that Nascar is BIG business and merchandising is what it is all about, but hey, guess what? We just want to watch the races. Actually listening to most of the drivers makes us want to run screaming to the hills away from watching the races; News flash, most of the drivers sound like petulant little boys who didn’t get their own way on the playground. Please stop bringing this fact to the forefront because it is sucking all the fun out of watching Nascar…….

Brickyard Racing July 2008
Monday, 28 July 2008 10:19

Well, Nascar Sprint Cup Racing has been less than interesting this year.  The race at the Brickyard yesterday was ridiculous in its 10-12 lap heats.  Where in the world was the actual racing?  This race was nap worthy to say the least.  Tires, tires, tires……the big news from the race was the tire wear which led to the 10-12 lap cautions.  There were a few accidents that were the result of, sure, you guessed it, tire wear.  I may have to find something else to do on race days besides thinking I might get to watch an actual race.  That boat sitting in the driveway may get used a lot more on race day if the races do not improve.

Dale Jr. finished 12th but kind of kept his 2nd place finish in the standings.
