INK19 Take a Look 4 stenciled pieces
|
I chose 4 uninked stencils in different sizes, 9x12, 5.25x6.5 and ATC 2.5x3.5
There was discussion about spray inks, mainly oxides, in the chat thread. I decided it was time to use my Dylusions spray inks before I even think about spray oxides. I rarely use them. I tried to use the inks and stencils in different ways.
1. Dylusions 9x12 from Luscious Leaves, sprayed with 2 colors of ink, grape and turquoise
2. Lots of spray for a background of grape, turquoise and pink. I used the stencil to lift ink (hard to see). I sprayed iridescent medium mixed with water over the Hero Arts sky stencil and dabbed with a paper towel to remove a bit of ink and leave a little shimmer.
3. 1 color, pink, through the Kiwi stencil on plain watercolor paper
4. Sprayed a colorful background, laid the Daggers ATC stencil over it and sprayed with black ink. I didn't like the coverage so I inked direct to paper over the stencil with Versafine Onyx Black.
I used Odif 404 ruler grid spray adhesive (found in sewing and quilting dept) to add tackiness to the back of the stencils. I was really happy with the result and experienced minimal seeping under the stencil.
Stencils : Dylusions 9x12 Lucious Leaves, Hero Arts from sky stencil pair 5.25x6.5, Joggles ATC stencils, Kiwi and Daggers
Inks : Dylusions spray inks in black marble, vibrant turquoise, crushed grape and bubblegum pink, Versafine Onyx Black ink pad
Windsor Newton iridescent medium
Strathmore 140lb watercolor paper
Thanks for the challenge Jan! I got to play with some underused supplies. While I did make quite a mess, I had fun, and I got a much needed birthday card made!
