Creative Challenges - Stencil Resist
|
So neither of my substitutions worked like Distress Glaze, but I actually really like both my backgrounds.
Left, I stenciled in light blue, shifted the stencil, and added a thin layer of crackle paint over. (I figured it was clear). Then I immediately cleaned my stencil. I then dipped the paper in purple and blue distress inks. This did resist but I didn’t see the halo like in the tutorial results.
Right, I first stenciled with brown. Then I shifted my stencil and added Versamark ink. I know that sometimes it acts as a partial resist. Well, it didn’t really do that in this case. Maybe doesn’t work on watercolor paper. I dipped it in brown, blue and greens. I think what you see here is more an addition of different colors making the stenciled portion look darker than the pattern.
