Diaper Cake for my DD's friend
|
My DD and I volunteered to make the diaper cake for her friend's shower. My DD had a whole box of newborn diapers that my grandson was born too big to wear! If the diapers don't fit, make a cake, ha!
We were told the shower theme was "coastal, with light blue" and the invitations had surfboards on them, "baby on board".
Thus, this is what I found in ribbons and accessories at HL.
My DD had the "Oh Baby" sign from one of the diaper cakes that were made for her showers. Last night at midnight I was painting Art Glitter Glue on a large plastic charger plate (from the diaper cake I made my DD) so I could sprinkle it with "decorative filler sand". I felt a little odd buying sand in FL, haha, but I'm sure it's cleaner than real sand and I didn't have time to go to the beach! I think I might be able to use it on cards ... I have quite a bit left! We did raid my collection of real shells, including the sand dollar. I couldn't find any appropriately sized surfboards at Hobby Lobby so I die cut them from an alcohol inked background I had in my stash and scraps of orange inked glossy cardstock and Elizabeth Crafts shimmer sheet for the leaves. I should have taken a close up.

Why do I leave these projects till the last minute?! Well, this time my excuse is that my DD got in at 9pm last night and we started it after we got my grandson ready for bed.
