Playing with my distress oxide backgrounds from the Happy Mail challenge

The background in the card on the left was not made for the challenge. I just swiped some distress oxide inks that were out, direct to watercolor paper and spritzed with water. (Warm lipstick, spiced marmalade and fossilized amber) . I pressed those same colors of oxide ink on to a craft mat, spritzed with water and pressed more watercolor paper in to it and dried with a heat gun. I adhered the die cut heart over the inked watercolor paper and fussy cut around it.

The background on the right was made for Jan's Happy Mail - distress oxide challenge. I die cut two hearts one from black and one from inked paper to match the background (wilted violet). I offset them slightly and adhered them together and then to the background.

LOVE YOU was die cut from the backgrounds allowing the black mat layer to show through.

Dies : Tim Holtz/Ranger Scribbles and Splat heart, Celebration Words : Block love you

Thanks again for the distress oxide background challenge Jan. I made a lot of backgrounds and I'm having fun using them.

TFL!

I really like you alternative technique on the left! It reminds me of the texture of flannel and would be fun to make with Christmas colors or spring time colors for a gardening theme. Your valentines are lots of fun! So glad you could make time to play. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice cards! I like the texture you got in the left one. I am surprised how much there is even after adding water. Love the colors in the right one, looks like an Easter plaid.
