The Shadow Knows-Moose

I started this card by embossing the card base with an embossing folder. I highlighted the snowflakes with Memories Unicorn white pigment ink.

Next I used a TCW stencil to create the birch tree scene with distress broken china ink. I also colored the tree markings and shaded the trees.

The moose tag is my use of the shadow knows technique. I inked the moose with the same white ink I used on the snowflakes and stamped on Kraft paper. I outlined the moose with a VersaMark pen. But unfortunately the pen died shortly after I began outlining. I adapted LeighAnn’s solution and moved my pen on my inkpad. That worked for another brief period but then it appeared my inkpad was also dry. In a final last ditch effort I used tweasers to remove the fine tip nib ( approx. 2”) and determined the opposite end looked in great shape and also damp. Yeah, enough VersaMark to complete the tag! Thanks go to Tim Holtz for sharing this tip to use if a distress marker tip loses its shape.

I really love the birch trees. The brightness of that panel goes really well with the kraft embossed inked background. I also like the strip of blue above the moose. Very fun!

Jan, I love those trees! I was surprised to read that you'd created them with a stencil. Wonderful shading. The VersaMark outlining really does help your moose to stand out. Thanks for that great tip! Thank you for playing. Daria

Those trees are absolutely gorgeous. I'm blown away by your skills with the stencil. Just Wow. And the moose looks great with this technique. I like that paper clip too.

I love this card--it is so fun to look at! The trees are so wonderful and the moose is neat with the torn edge and PP stripe at the top. I really like looking at all the details! TFS!

This is wonderful. I thought the tree part was pp until I read your description. Thank you for sharing.
