Magenta Christmas Holly Birds
|
I thought I had finished coloring this image until I saw the wonderful version by Micheline Jourdain: http://www.magentastyle.com/2015/01/micheline-jourdain-retrospective.html?showComment=1447000032996#c7550021585823458092. You have to scroll down to find it. After looking at her version, I headed back to mine. I used a Tombow Marker to watercolor a brighter blue on darker part of the birds. I tried to bleach out the brown which I felt was too dark, but that wasn’t successful. I added the wash of blue around the image. I tried to splatter white gesso using my new Kemper Splatter Brush. I managed to get it everywhere except on the image. (I’ll have to watch a video to see how to use that thing.) I used a regular brush and that worked better, but didn’t show up much so I ended up applying dots with a white gel pen.
I just found a video on how to use the splatter brush: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7YNKYplGvY. I turned the wood piece that moved the pin all around the brush instead of turning the brush and leaving the pin facing my card. Why didn’t I think of that? No, I didn’t have the directions. I wonder what I did with them. Next time.
The mats are pieces of wax paper resist I made with wax paper and an embossing folder in 2008. In 2012, I added the ink just to see if it still was good. Now finally, I’m using it. (I have a bunch of pieces that I decided to save until I need them before applying the color.)
Individual Cards and details can be found in my gallery at scrapbook.com:

I'm sorry it doesn't all fit here.
TFL.
