October Design Challenge-Grounding

I was fooling around with distress ink and ended up with some backgrounds. These both are using ground coffee and mermaid lagoon. I used a stencil on the bottom one with some white linen dylusion spray ink. Then I stamped and embossed the lady and the irresistible saying on the other background. I laid one on top of the other and thought I could make a card out of the two. But they just didn't look quite right. So I stamped and colored some circles on the bottom one and stamped post card on the top. Well it looked better but it just wasn't quite right yet. Then I put them on the white card and the bottom one looked better but the top one still looked floaty. So I put a white border on the top one and laid it on the bottom one on the white card and it looked so much better. So there you go, I grounded it and pulled it together using a design challenge.

Thank you for looking.

Awesome card Sadie! My first watercolor teacher repeat a mantra many times-“where the lightest bright color and darkest dark color meet becomes the focal point where our eyes naturally look first”. I think perhaps that is what you did here by adding the white mats- it clearly defines where our eyes go first. Love how the light blue carries the viewer's eyes into the lady's eyes. Sadie, you have fabulous natural instinct for this one!

What a nice color combination. The white matting really works with this card. I like the overall dreamy look.

Pretty card, Sadie! I really love these colors together. I never would have thought they would work so well together. The white border really makes the image stand out and adds nice stability to your card. Tfs Smile

How haunting. Love the lady's background and what a beautiful stamp. The whole card comes together so beautifully. But I still feel a sense of haunting
