Spellbinders Merry Stitching Die Set -- The Border
|
I made six cards using this scalloped border. I uploaded five of them to my scrapbook.com gallery. The sixth one was a duplicate. I tried out different floss and colors. To make a long story short, do not use size 5 floss. It is too thick and breaks down the holes where several stitches meet. (Thank you, Nora, for pointing that out to me.)
What did work for me: DMC 6-ply floss (three strands) and DMC Coton Perlé, size 8. Spellbinders recommends using two strands of 6-ply floss. I have also used two strands of metallic threads and the Marllitt viscose threads. I'll have to save my size 5 threads for cross-stitch and backgrounds where you don't keep going back to the same hole over and over.
This card:
4 ¼ x 5 ½ inches
Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110-lb. cardstock (card base and die-cut)
Elizabeth Craft Designs Merry Christmas die
Springer Marlitt 4-ply floss (2 strands used)
837 (blue)
898 (yellow)
The glitter paper came from the packaging of a party popper-type of a gift package. It’s a champagne color
(both the border and the sentiment).
Flat-back pearls
TFL.
