Happy Mail Swap-Light & Airy

For the light and airy theme I immediately decided I wanted to use vellum on my card but with a new to me technique and considerable white space. Initially I tried to hand dry emboss on vellum but it was too thin to stretch the paper without tearing.

I don’t recall using alcohol inks on vellum previously so I made various color combinations and embossed various flower images in white embossing powder and fussy cut the flowers. After my trials I found I liked flowers with large open petals best for the light and airy theme.

I used Cryogen White cardstock with its hints of metallic sparkles for the card base and cut the front top with a TH mixed media thinlits die. I have never seen the die used in this manner and am happy with the look. I added blended festive berries distress ink on an A2 size piece of vellum and then buffed off with a cloth. I tried this on both sides of the vellum but decided the color was too strong for my light and airy look. The colored vellum was added on the inside of the card for an inset look. I finished by stamping the sentiment and sent it off to Kathy.

Very pretty CAS design! I love the flower and the die cut portion! The sentiment is lovely for the light and airy look. I bet the metallic sparkles in the card base are so pretty!

I love this. The alcohol inks on vellum turned out very pretty! and the die cut is really cool. The paper with the sparkles is pretty!

I love the way the die and flower work together. I'm confused though ... is the flower colored with distress ink or alcohol inks? Pretty card and very light with the open areas and white space.

Cindi-I colored the vellum for the flower with alcohol inks. The vellum paper on the backside of the top die cut is colored on 1 side only with distress ink blended on and buffed off to remove wet ink.
