Lighten Up Book'em Squirrel

I used watercolor paper as suggested by Heidi. It took me 3 tries to get the stamping right. The first try was too dark and on the second, the image didn't come out completely. The stamp is by Heidi Swapp and I used Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink.

Then I stamped the squirrel and sentiment by Studio G. It is actually one stamp and I cut it apart. The sentiment is next to the acorn so it was too wide for the base. I stamped with Memento Ink in Rich Cocoa, but the squirrel didn't come out solid enough. So I used some reinker to fill him in with a paint brush. The acorns in the corners are by Inkadinkado.

I wanted to put a heart around the sentiment because in needed something. None of my heart stamps would work so I decided to draw it in. Unfortunately, I did it in pen and I hate it. So after taking this picture, I used a Spellbinder scallop heart to cut out the heart. Then I cut another heart , restamped the sentiment, and did an inlay.

I think this heart looks fine, but I also bet the inlay looks good. I really like the color you were able to get with the spiced marmalade. I am not too surprised you really had to stamp off, but this is a great result. The stamp you picked is perfect too. I like your little squirrel and all his acorns hidden in the corners. Great job and ty for doing my challenge!

I love your squirrel! The background technique turned out really nice. Your heart is nice and homey, I don't know, I can be a perfectionist too so I can't say if I'd have left it or not.

I like it. It's simple & it's good. I hearya on the hand-drawn heart, but I've seen/done worse. Kinda looks like an acorn without its cap.

I think the heart looks fine (I actually thought it was a stamp---many stamps are fancy-free like feel). I love the squirrel too and the BG is so nice!!

I think your hand-drawn heart is kind of sweet, but I'm sure it looks fabulous with the inlaid heart. I love the way the background varies in intensity. TFS. Daria
