Gelato Play

I bought a set of gelatos at a show for real cheap! I have never played with them before. I was looking online and saw that you have to prep your cs with gesso and that they had to be sealed when you finish your project. I came up this technique on my own.

I prepped the cs with gesso. I stamped a solid stamp on some typing paper twice and fussy cut them to use as masks. I smooshed come lighter colors of gelatos in one area of my prepped cs. (light greens and oranges) Next I placed my masks over those areas using removable tape. I then colored in stripes using other colors of gelatos. I then blended them with my finger in an up and down motion, going right over my masks too. I kept adding colors until I liked it. On the pear panel I flicked water over the bg and patted it off with a paper towel. On the fish panel I used a stencil and used a baby wipe to wipe off color through the stencil. I wanted some texture on the fish, so I stamped a darker orange on top of them using a light touch. The panels were sealed using hairspray.

Very nice! I didn't remember anything about sealing. Thanks for mentioning that. I love the stripes and stenciled backgrounds.

Very pretty! You must really be in the crafty zone to come up with a new technique like this. And cool that you got a great deal on these.
