Gel resist backgrounds (1 of3 photos)

Here are my samples from Anna-Karin's tutorial. I used glossy gel medium through stencil onto watercolor paper. Photo on left-I used a grid line stencil. I feel the lines are too thin and spread out for this technique. I blended distress inks together on craft mat...a pressed paper on top.
Right photo-Here I used a pinwheel stencil. I used pearlescent watercolors.

Super cool! When I look at the pinwheels, colored pencils come to mind. Anyone else see it that way? Love these Jan!

So that pinwheel stencil . . . Is it a reverse image stencil? I can't quite figure it out. It seems the background is where the gel medium is. I don't think I've ever seen a reverse image stencil. lol. Cool effect! TFS. Daria
