Anniversary card using distress oxide inks
|
We have an anniversary coming up and I've been playing with my distress oxide inks this weekend. I'm not really using the distress properties, but the fact that they have pigment in them make them stick fairly well to clear stamps.
This card front is stamped on Kromecote (coated paper) I bought from Marco's paper years ago. It's a little like glossy paper. I didn't have trouble with it drying (sometimes pigment ink will NEVER dry on glossy paper), but I did heat set it.
ETA : I thought it was dry ... maybe not!! I went back to a card front I made yesterday and when I rub my finger over it, it doesn't really smear, but I get a chalky film on my finger :( . It looks dry, but I think in fact the pigment portion of the ink is not drying. So sad! This card is in the envelope, so I will just have to warn DH to handle with care! Wanted to let you know so you don't try this at home! One of these days I will try these inks and stamps again on regular paper
.
I cut the green gingham mat layer on an angle. The card base is Coordinations brown with a green core, sanded down a bit.
The icecream was stamped off for the solid layer, stamped directly for the 2nd layer and I clear embossed the 2nd layer. It is Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide. I did something similar for the cone, but no embossing.
Stamps : Hero Arts Color Layering Ice Cream
Hero Stamp and Cut Happy (I used the Happy die on black glossy cardstock)
Embellishments : Echo Park enamel dots
