Distress oxide Birthday Card
|
Another attempt at stamping with distress oxide inks. This time I stamped on Hammermill 100lb cover stock. The ink dried better, although you can see that the worn lipstick large flower on the left has a chalky area, and that does come off on your finger if you rub it. Ugh! That is an area that I double stamped to get a more solid impression ... I don't know if that has anything to do with it? I'm not sure that you can see it in the photo, but there is a funny area on the large leaf on the far right! It's as if the stem was still a little wet, so when I stamped the large leaf over it, it oxidized the leaf along those lines. I can see faint bluish lines where the stem lies under the leaf. Crazy! I did some masking to put the leaves toward the back on the left most flower.
I can say that the hybrid property of the ink gives good coverage on clear solid stamps (AHA Arts Flower set used here). I didn't use any water on this card.
I've recently been watching some joggles.com youtube videos and I'm really enjoying them. She does a lot of pen work. I was inspired to try adding some pen drawing over these stamps. I will show the "before" picture below.
I loosely outlined and doodled a bit using a Pitt fine point pen.
I swiped a Peeled Paint Distress oxide ink pad across the card front several times to create the background.
The sentiment (Hampton Art) was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black. TFL!
