Wedding card

We went to a wedding over the weekend and I was struggling to make a card. I know I've done this technique before, with admittedly mixed results. I tried patting and brayering ink on an embossing folder. I think because I used SU shimmer paper and distress ink, the ink was splotchy. So, I decided to cover most of it up with an uninked, embossed layer, but I still let a little color show around the edge. The sentiment was stamped on a strip of the same paper, mounted with foam tape and the ends wrapped around to the back. I also scored lines along the top and bottom of the sentiment strip. ETA : Just looked at the picture and the scored lines don't show up at all! I found a scrap and I definitely did score it, ha! I took the pic in the hotel and the lighting was bad. (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it)

Paper : SU shimmer paper
Ink : Distress Iced Spruce and Versafine Smokey Gray
Embossing Folder : Anna Griffin/Cuttlebug Acanthus

TFL!

It’s very elegant! I have heard people mention that SU shimmer paper before. Do you like it?

Yes, I do like SU shimmer paper. Adds a bit of fanciness, and I've heard you can watercolor over it, but I haven't tried it yet, and I wouldn't do a wash or anything with a lot of water, I don't think.

This is lovely! I have had the same problem with this technique. It helped when I brayered on the ink and then rolled it through the Cuttlebug very slowly so the ink had a chance to transfer. It worked well with Antique Linen Distress Ink. When I offered this technique as a challenge, participants had the best luck with pigment inks; some liked Memento; they had the most trouble with Distress inks. TFS. Daria
