July ATC 2015 - AI and celebration

I decided I wanted to try the straw technique again on acetate for this ATC swap--to me the "sprays" look like fireworks. After I created the "fireworks", I stamped the hat and flag (Stampin Up) on the front using Stazon. I then coated the back with gesso to help the fireworks pop....I didn't realize that the red AI would bleed into the gesso, despite the AI was dry for probably a week! But I think it's still kinda cool looking.

TFL!

Very cool looking! I haven't ever tried this technique but it looks like fin. I love the explosion of red and blue along with your fun patriotic stamps. TFS Smile

It does look cool and celebratory! Good job! I had no idea about the gesso either.

cool, that is interesting that it mixed with the ink after being dry that long

I am so going to have to try using gesso with AI and acetate. What a great idea. I love the way the colors are streaked to create fireworks. I love it.
