Title: INK15 Show 'Em Some Love - Winner Posted
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 16, 2015, 08:09:03 PM
I'm keeping this one fairly simple.  I was cleaning up my craft space (again) and I noticed how many new stamps I have.  So I want you to show those never before used stamps some love.

Requirements: Use at least one previously unused image stamp to create a project.  It can be a card, ATC, tag, scrapbook page, whatever you want.

Bonus entry for the RAK if you use another never before used item on the card, i.e. embossing folder, dies, embellishments, ribbon, ink, anything in your stash other than a stamp.

I know there are several Inkers that have moved recently or are planning to move and have engaged in major purges.  So if you do not have an unused stamp in you collect  :o, you can use a stamp that you haven't used in the last 6 months.

Be sure to include SESLINK15 as a keyword when you post your project to the gallery.  And link your project to this thread.

Combining challenges: But of course, as long as the other host allows combos.

Deadline: You have until midnight your local time on Sunday Oct. 25 to post your project.

Sample (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=2028&message_id=fa779ed18af6ce633232b8a758612ce6&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)

Since I used watercolor markers that I hadn't used before on this piece, it would count twice for the RAK drawing.

I think that covers it.  But feel free to ask any questions here.

I noticed in Iring's challenge, she encouraged you to go out an buy a new stamp if you want.  For my challenge it should be a stamp you already own and has been neglected.  The idea is to use the stuff you have not get more.   Hence the 6 month unused option.

Yeah! I have LOTS of new stamps right now and I am itching to use them. I do also have a few border embossing folders I have never used and also a regular embossing folder.  Heck, I even have a new paper pad. LOL!

Thanks for hosting!

Ok, I just went to a yard sale at my local stamp store and got some new to me stamps, is that allowed or do we want stamps that are bought new never used by anybody before ?  Either way I have some of both so it doesn't matter, I just have one in mind for my nephews birthday coming up :)

Connie - they don't have to be brand new stamps, just stamps you've never inked.  So the yard sale stamps are perfect.

Thanks, they are perfect for the masculine cards I need to get done this month :)

I had made one of these pocket type letters for the granddaughter so I figured I should do one for the grandson who lives in the same house.  There are several new things on the four little cards, the cards are around 4 inches by 4 inches.

Here (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=83&pid=2041#top_display_media) is my entry for this challenge.  Thank you for looking.

Blush!  I know, I'm an enabler ... didn't want to stop anyone from shopping if they just NEEDED a new stamp.  ;)  Your suggestion is great too.  Definitely should use what we have, and when we find stamps we haven't used in 6 mos or more, they can feel like new again!

I will not need to shop to do your challenge.  I have some stamps and a new die just waiting patiently for someone to play with them!

Sadie - what a cool piece and way to use 7 never before used items.  O0  I'm sure grandson will love it.

Cindi - nothing wrong with being an enabler.

I combo'd this with Stampwilly's BINGO challenge.  It was just perfect since I had this new, uninked Tree stamp! It is a lovely big tree stamp and this card is also larger than I usually make.  The stamp was new, I never used the white twine before and I may have never used the embossing powder before either.

I tried to get the embossing powder to show in this photo:

Thanks for the fun challenge!

I ended up using a never before used stamp, got it at the stamping convention this summer... and I also used nail heads for the first time and they are much thinner than brads and no need to make holes, I have one other colored set I bought so I may have found something other than brads to use now.

I had to use the bird die because I made a boo boo on the background and had a chunk of yellow in the sky.

I also combined this with the bingo challenge

I am not familiar with the nail head product, I will have to look out for them when shopping.

Great card, Connie.  I hadn't heard of nail heads either.

They look like brads or gems but are much flatter, add hardly any bulk at all to the card.  I bought them awhile ago and just hadn't used them, I can't remember where I found them either, I have started a little basket of items I find for guy cards and they were in it.  I just did a google for them and I see you can get them at Walmart and this is the brand I bought too, but I don't remember getting mine at Walmart.  http://www.walmart.com/ip/25266352?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227017811177&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=52288827015&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=79372955415&veh=sem

Thanks for the link! I might actually need to go to Walmart (it is pretty far from here) to get DS's sport glasses fit with new lenses (not every place does it).  So I might look for them.

Also, I know to look in the sticker section now at AC Moore.

I originally did this card for the rustic challenge but as I was writing everything down I realized it would work for this challenge too.  The background wood wall was my first time using this stamp and I have had it for over a year.  The metal findings on the sentiment are also first time I have used them, bought them for guy cards and then never could think how to use them.

Since I had not used that Unity cupcake stamps for the drive by before, and I needed a gift tag today, I decided to make that image into a tag.  It was really handy to have an image already ready!

http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=2084&message_id=f98ac62daf0a48ac593050050a68fc4e&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock

Actually, if this Inktoberfest was longer, I have about 20 stamps that I still haven't inked.  A few that I won, a whole order from Purple Onion (I just got some cling foam to mount them) and a couple from I Brake for Stamps.  I say that I have been trying not to buy more stamps, but I guess in reality that might not be true!

I keep thinking that I would love to have some images already colored by have too big of a family that I make cards for and I can barely keep up with them.  I think last count just my side of the family and that is just brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and now their kids, great nieces and nephews I am up to 59 birthday cards a year, and it looks like my nephew is getting married soon so that will be another one (his new wife), then there is the hubby's side but he doesn't have as many on his side, I keep very busy card making, that is why I am always trying to fit away to give a card as a birthday card into my challenge's  ;)

That tag is fabulous, Heidi.  I'm glad the drive-by challenge helped you out.

Connie - good grief that is a lot of birthday cards.  I have the opposite problem, I tend to make more cards than I need. Love the rustic card.

Wow, Connie! I bet that keeps you busy. I would use that as an excuse to buy more stamps O0

Heidi, I found a few stamps I had forgotten about buying! :o and I feel guilty about my ever growing wish list! Just not enough hours in the day!

Here is a card I made with a new stamp and a new stencil.

I think I just added that stencil to my wish list.  Fortunately, I keep the list in my head.  So I tend to forget stuff, which cuts back on my buying.  ;D

Beautiful card, LeighAnn.

I added some Christmas cards I made with new set of Tim Holtz with dies and stamp.  I don't do die cutting, but it looked easy and I must have crazy that day.  I couldn't figure it out.  The flowers I figured out but not the others.
So I worked on what I do know the stamping.  I tried single color, stamping with markers, putting more tha one color on the stamp.  Different inks, pigment, distress and vermark.  Plus different embossing powders.
I am still going to try gesso and water coloring over clear embossing.
Maybe in the end I will find out what I like in this stamp or maybe I will give it away!

Put it in the gallery.

I listed all the names of all the entries, numbered them and used a random number generator. There were 19 entries and Random.org picked number 3.  So the winner is:

Stampwilly - April.

Congrats, April.  I have your address.

I think the morale of this challenge is that we either need to shop less or craft more.  ;D  I vote for crafting more.
