Since this technique is all about the embossing folder, I figured I would engaging in some enabling.  Jo-Ann's has Darice EF on sale: 5 for $10.  That applies to both the $4.99 and $5.99 folders.

I had fun and great success with this challenge.  This was the first I had tried the letterpress paper from HA. It seemed to contrast with what others here used for their backgrounds.  The closest paper I have used is Strathmore's paint pad. It is a firm paper with minimal texture on one side.

On a side note I am looking forward to beginning a series of three classes to learn how to use a letterpress.  At this point it prints one design at a time without embossing but it will be fun to learn the use of this classic printing machine.

Thanks Daria for a great challenge!

Jan, I saw your card in the gallery last night.  It's beautiful.  I know that the soft colors we're using on these cards don't usually show up that well in photos and scans; they are wonderful in real life.

I almost didn't offer this challenge because of the problems I had initially and it's similarity to letterpress.  I'm glad I did; I've learned a lot from the posts on this thread, and I love the results we're getting.

Nora and I are off to a workshop today along with another stamping buddy.  It's one of those all-day Marathon classes Stamp on Over offers three times a year.  I'll check in when I get back.

We have just the weekend left to play.  I haven't done a single challenge other than my own.  Tops on my list is the Marble Background Technique.  I love the fun and energy this technique adds to a card, but I've never tried it with embossing.  I'm hoping today's class will energize me and get me back into the craft room.

Jan that is very interesting about the special paper you have.  It would be interesting to compare all the papers and figure out once and for all which works the best for this.  TFS.

I knew how to do this one.  Made snowflake cards for Christmas last year, totally stained folder doing this.  I got too much into projection to worry about cleaning folder.  My fault.
I made you the words folder in red, but looks pink.

I put it in the gallery.

Here's a link to Yankee's card.

Cool card!  That embossing folder is perfect with this technique, and I love the glitter dust.

I finally got the card finished with the ornament bisque piece.

Bisque Ornament Card

The ribbon I used was actually from my cousin's bridal shower. Apparently, when you do gift wrap at Bed, Bath & Beyond it includes absolutely gorgeous purple ribbon.

Thank you, one and all, for particpating in this challenge.  You came up with some wonderful advice so that we can all now use this beautiful technique with ease, and the cards you posted are so elegant.

I know the winner.

I wrote all your names on a piece of paper, folded each one over and over, stuck them into my straw hat, bounced them around and around.  This time, I asked Heidi to choose one while they were still bouncing--reminded me of bingo balls.  Can you believe that she still mixed them up with her hand even though they were bouncing all around inside that hat??!!

Oh, the winner . .  .
