TY to April for uploading my thumping. And TY for all the nice comments.

Gonna answer comment questions here... Jan asking about how much of this piece was thumped. Just the fans. And for those I first inked the stamp with 'Tattered Rose', then thumped with 'crushed olive', 'tea dye' & 'aged mahogany'. The geisha is aged mahogany & the surrounding BG is crushed olive--doesn't look as bright IRL to me.

Heidi asked about the flowers & leaves on the fans. They are an intaglio pattern on the stamp, so the base white of the CS shows really well.

Daniel---love the fans and I keep looking and looking at your piece trying to figure out how you colored the edges around the fans green if you started with a white CS?  It almost seems like the fans are a resist some sort....

I'm gonna try and work on this one this weekend. I'm embarrassed to admit, I've never done this one before!

I need to go back and leave more praise, I'm loving everyone's results!

Melissa. The green around the stamped images was stippled with a brush & DI (crushed olive) with all the masks in place--1 geisha mask & 3 fan masks. HTH

This was a fun technique!

I haven't tried it with a clear stamp yet, but I'm assuming rubber works best with this technique?

I had a few trial and errors with ink choices. The first I tried was too light, the second was too dark! I ended up going with a muted green chalk ink. I also borrowed my sons crayola markers for this because mine were in our room and DH was asleep so I didn't want to wake him up!

Maybe this has been mentioned before but, Im curious to try this by inking up my image with distress inks, use some water based markers for the thumping and then lightly spritz with water. I think it would turn out really cool!

Thanks again, April for teaching me a fun technique!

Well this was my 3rd attempt at thumping, I tried two other stamps that just didn't turn out, but I was finally happy with the results on this one, I used distress markers for this.
