Let's Do the Twist     WF18Twist

I've been seeing some cool twisted pop-up cards lately so I thought we'd give it a try.
Dina Kowal has a tutorial with a video on Splitcoaststampers.  It doesn't look too hard.   :o

Note : There are now dies available to make this style card.  If you have one, by all means use it!

1.  You must make a twisted pop-up card similar to the one in the tutorial.
2.  Your card must have an image stamp or background stamp or both.
3.  Please use WF18Twist in the title of your gallery post and as a "key word" when you post to the Winterfest 2018 gallery.
4.  Combining with another challenge is allowed.

Have fun!

I will draw a name from the pool of participants for a small RAK.

Here are the links to my sample.

And a close up of the gelly roll stardust pen on 1 of the dresses.

Here is a link to a brush similar to the one I used to get soft inking around the dresses.  I bought some of mine from Just For Fun, and maybe a LSS.  I couldn't find a pic on JFF's web page, so this one is from Dick Blick.  Tim Holtz recently used brushes in a Creativation 2018 video, which reminded me, I have brushes!

Card folds!  These are the things I never do unless they are part of a challenge.  Lol.  Thanks for challenging me, Cindi!

Well this all went well except doing the inside I could have come down a little more for my insert but the glue dried to quickly before I realized it.
Here is my outside:

I can see doing another one of these in the future :)

That is such a pretty card Connie!  I really like the scene you created on the inside, framed by the photo corners.  Love your choice of printed papers too.  I’m glad you liked it enough to maybe try it again.

Wow, that was tricky! I did cut my mechanism wrong first and had to redo it.  Also, my pop up opens a lot easier than it closes? Anyone know why that might be?  You sortof have to push the book shut to get it to close instead of just closing the card...

Most excellent cards Jan and Heidi!   They are so cool.  Imagine getting one of these in the mail?!

Heidi,
Dina Kowal mentioned scoring the folds on the pop-up mechanism both ways.  Could that be it?  Or, I saw that someone rounded the corners on the booklet piece to keep them from catching ...

I'm so proud of you for getting over the intimidation and giving it a try!

When I made mine, I followed Dina's still photos more than the video even.  I also made two card bases, pop-up mechanisms and booklets, as long as I was measuring, cutting and folding.  So I have a blank ready to decorate.

I did score both ways, but it could be rounding the corners would help a lot!  I hope to be able to try another when I am not in such a hurry, and I will give that a try! Thanks!

Running out of time and done to dead line with this card.  I had problems, cut it out four times, finally got one to work.  Water colored front, but ran out of steam and time, so used die cut flowers on the inside.
