WF16- Recycling Trash
« on: January 23, 2016, 02:14:52 PM »
We have done this challenge in the past, but I always like to do it.

The challenge is to recycle items that you would normally throw in the trash.

In my sample card, I used the following:

used coffee filter
crinkled card board from heavy box
blue tissue paper from Christmas, cut with feather die
star cut from Diet Coke can, embossed and swiped with blue ink.
I then stamped on top of the cardboard and the coffee filter.

Please do not combine with other challenges.

So requirements are:

Items that you would throw away
Stamping
That is all.

Here the link to my sample card.  http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=2331&message_id=dde06d640f4c32741214dd2e799020e6&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock

I have a couple of questions.  Did you want a label for your challenge for putting on the gallery posts?

Second, can we only use items destined for the trash on the project (presumably except for cardstock for the card base) or can it be a combination of trash and stuff from our stash?  Does that question make sense?  For example, if I'm making a card, can I use a coffee filter and some pattern paper from my stash on the front of the card or just the coffee filter? Or another example, can the trash items be embellishments for a card made with stuff from my stash?  I just want to make sure I'm clear about what you are looking for, I'm not necessarily looking to do any of the above.

A good question; all of the supplies that you use would be items that you normally put in the trash; not from stash.  Recycling is the key here.

And the  title for this card would be:  WF16-Recycling Trash.

Have fun.

Here is my entry. I used a paper towel, plastic and cardboard from packaging.

I hope it is ok that not all my items are from trash, I used a regular sheet of cardstock to emboss on and my brad.
I got the idea to use AI from I think it was april's card, my plastic packaging cracked a little bit when cutting it but I still used it

I made 3 cards recycling trash.  And I have some ideas for more.
Here are my cards:
Tissue Box Card

Heart Trio

Flower Heart

Here are the trash items I used:
1) an invitation to an alumni dinner from my law school on its way to the recycling bin
2) used coffee filter
3) biscotti box I saved from the recycling bin
4) a plastic covered twist tie destined for the trash
5) used match

Now these are items I used that normal people would throw out but since I'm not normal, I'm a crafter, I had them in my stash.  Hopefully that still counts since I did save them from the trash, just not recently:
1) beer bottle cap I had my dad save for me after seeing someone on-line use one as an embellishment
2) left over screening from when I fixed the screened in porch
3) coffee cup sleeves from Starbucks
4) the ribbon loops from either a blouse or dress for holding it on a hanger.  I hate those things, so I cut them out.
5) Tissue box

I've attached some close-ups of the bottle cap and the arrow since they didn't show up too good in the photos.

I'm enjoying seeing all of the creative takes on this one!

I was cleaning up after dinner last night and was trying to figure out what I had to use, I found a few things that I think will be great!

I do have a question though, does our creation have to be a card?

I also came here wondering if this needs to be a card, but I see LeighAnn already asked too.

Am late in answering the question about does it have to be a card.  No any project will work as well.

I don't know where this week has gone.  To many things going on it once and so I am very late in announcing a winner.
I am posting this now and then will use my random selector and be right back.

And the winner is - -----------Craft Nerd (Sarah).  Congratulations and thanks for taking part in my challenge.

I was so amazed at the beautiful cards that all of you made from usable trash.  Loved all of the cards and you all are to be congratulated.

Sarah I do have your address and will be sending you a RAK in the next few days - as soon as I get my assignment done for my Photography Class tonight.  I am taking this class to learn all of the functions of my new camera.  Wow that camera is so much smarter than I am.
