Title: Color My World Challenge - WINNER ANNOUNCED
Post by: Craft Nerd on February 14, 2015, 08:48:17 PM
If you're like me you have a variety of media for coloring your projects but you have a couple that are your fall backs that you use all the time.  I've notice that lately, I tend to color images with my Copics and create backgrounds using Distress Inks.  So the goal of this challenge is to get us to use some of our neglected coloring media.

Requirements: Use at least 3 different coloring media on your project.  By coloring media, I mean anything you can use to add color to a project.  Some examples: crayons, alcohol inks, distress inks, paint, color pencils, gelatos, markers, twinkle H2O, watercolors, etc.  You can use it to create a background or color a focal image.  If you use two different types of markers, like India ink and alcohol ink markers, those will count as two separate media.  The same goes if you use distress ink and pigment ink.  I hope that makes sense.

The only thing that will not count is ink used to stamp an image.  But feel free to use your ink pads in another way on the project.

You must include at least one stamped image (not a sentiment)

Your project can be anything - ATC, card, Inchie, tag, scrapbook page, whatever floats your boat.  Although if you manage to work 3 different coloring media onto an inchie, I'll be really impressed.

Be sure to link your project to this thread and in your post identify the 3 media you used (it is not always easy to tell from a photo).

Combining challenges: But of course.

Deadline: You have until midnight your local time on Sunday March 1 to post your project.

Examples:
For my kit projects for last month, I used at least 3 different coloring media on each.

For my kept kit butterfly tag, I used distress inks, alcohol inks, gelatos, twinkle H2Os and Farber Castell India ink markers.
Butterfly Tag (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=46&pid=991#top_display_media)

For my received kit, I used alcohol inks, gelatos, and Farber Castell India ink markers.
Flower Tag (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=46&pid=990#top_display_media)

I think that covers it.  But feel free to ask any questions here.

Great use of different color media, ladies.  And thanks for playing.

Jan - when I left your praise, I hadn't realized you were entering it in my challenge too. I had just been cruising the gallery before bed last night.  I definitely like the combination of media you used on the piece.

Heidi - if you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have realized you used markers and color pencils on the at piece.  You blended them together so smoothly.

Thanks for a fun challenge. On the scallop I used Broken China stain all over it. I then applied blues, purples and silver alcohol inks in splotches. I sponged Distress ink - Dusty Concord around the edges. I stamped the butterfly using a marker on it and spritzing it with water. I then used my water brush to pull color in from the edges to make the lavender middle.

Here's my project:  flower with mountains (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1122&message_id=2123b12b9cbd399e14425171a67c787c&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)

I went ahead with my project and used the ink and pen drawing.  I like the results, though I do want to play more with mixing stamps and the elegant writer and regular water-proof black pens together.  I still have trouble with watercolor pencils as I said in the description, and I think that is why I don't use them that often (also watercolor crayons too---I get lines also that don't go away when I add water).   :-\

I had so much fun with this one.

I just had to use an image that Sarah sent me in the February KIAE! I colored the entire piece with spectrum noir markers. Added shading With prismacolor pencils and crayola crayons.
Added little details with. Sakura glaze, gelly roll and stardust pens.

Thanks Sarah for hosting! I'm loving everyone's colorful entries!

Here's mine (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1161), Sarah! It was a perfect match with my fingertip art challenge.

I so enjoyed the chance to use multiple coloring media, as well as techniques to layer the various media.  O0

The gallery is locked so I can not post there. We agreed during Inktoberfest planning that folks in PST and Alaska Standard Time would have allowances made so ALL had until midnight to post and be included in challenges.  I have seen nothing describing this event to be different. I hopeful my card can still be placed in the gallery as an official entry. I also would still like to be included in the drawing!

WF15 Surprise Stencil; WF15 Color My World
This was such a fun challenge!  I used the stencil layout to create my own collage version. I created several backgrounds to determine what would work best.  The chick stamp is from Red Rubber stamps and is covered with 2 colors of flocking one with glitter.  The grasshopper is by Stampendous and the numbers stamp is by Tim Holtz as well as the dotted fade stencil behind the chick.  Please ask if you want to know the company for any other stamp.

To create the collage I used distress stains and inks ,  Wendy Vecchi archival inks, wink of stella, embossing powder, Viva Pearl ice white to paint the feathers and of course the flocking.
Key Words: Spring; collage; watercolor; stencils

One of my favorite challenges!

Jan - that stinks about the gallery, but no worries, I will include you in the RAK drawing.  Your collage is fabulous.  The chick is super cute and I really like the grasshopper.  I love how bright and cheery the colors are.  Thanks for play.

Far North, The gallery is not locked, the Winterfest 2015 album is not locked.  If you cannot upload then sign out of the forum, go to the gallery and make sure you are signed out and then sign back into the forum and then go back to the gallery and you should be able to upload again.  Be sure to close the gallery window and reopen it after signing back into the forum.  I am sorry you had problems with the gallery, but nothing has been changed and no one has been locked out.

I know you've been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the winner.  But I had a little trouble.

I decided to get the pets to help pick the winner.  I put everyone's name on a piece of paper, folded it up and put it in a hat.

When I showed Myrna the hat, she sniffed it a few times but decided that there was nothing tasty in the hat and turned her nose up at it.  So no winner.

When I showed Dashiell the hat, he ate several of the pieces of paper before I could get the hat away from him.  So no winner.

I redid the names and showed Nora (one of the cats).  She batted several piece under the couch where I couldn't reach them.  So no winner.

So I redid the names again.  When I showed Stink (the other cat), she picked a name but ran off with the piece of paper before I could see who it was and hit it under the bed, where I can't reach it.  So no winner.

I finally gave up and used a random number generator.

And the winner is LeighAnn.  Let me know if you've moved, otherwise I will mail your RAK sometime this week.

Congrats, LeighAnn.  And thanks everyone for playing.

Her official name is Inque (pronounced Ink), but she is such a brat that we started calling her Stink and it stuck.  I think the vet is the only one who calls her Inque.
