Yikes! How did I lose a week in September already?
This month's icon will be ornaments, and if you'd like to try a special technique, how about using negative space from a punch or die?
Can't wait to see what you make!
-
Thanks for the prompt. I am going to add this to my list NOW instead of at the end of the month so I won't forget.
-
I need a NOW list! Or, just make a list NOW and work on it later ... Yeah, that's what I'll do.
When I first read your post, Heidi, I thought you had a NOW list.
-
Thanks for the prompt! I have a few ornament stamps and a new one I have not used!
April

Perfect! You're welcome!

I think it is quite a lovely card how you did it. If you wanted, you could add a red matting around the main image and maybe a little poinsettia embellishment to enhance the Christmasness of it. Just an idea!
-
Yes, Sheila, I was thinking like Heidi -- add a mat behind the image.

Here are my entries. I got busy right away. The blue one is my least favorite and maybe you all could help me improve it!!

Hi Sheila! I had the same thought as Heidi and April ... try adding a mat behind your stamped image. I would try black, though it might get lost on the background, more likely red to match the ribbon/background or maybe even gold, as it looks like a little bit of gold/neutral in the background and yellow/gold in the image. If you are afraid of popping the image off your pretty background ... someone recently shared a tip to use Glide ribbon style dental floss. They said it was even better than Un Do.
Thanks for playing and using the prompts April! And you're so quick!
Your blue card is harder ... I think it might need just a tiny pop of another color. It already has bling. I looked at the embossed section, but you really don't want to draw the eye too much away from your tree ... for some reason I'm thinking a tiny bit of red, even though that would make a red, white and blue card. You are the embellishment queen! Do you have a little holly piece with tiny red berries, or a silver/red somethin', somethin' to add on top of the ribbon crossing the top corner? Just thoughts, don't feel like you need to change it.
Hey! Just had one more thought ... Yankee added a tiny red bird to her tree card (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=2875#top_display_media). Your tree might be too busy for a bird, but maybe in the top corner? or somewhere else? Under the tree, on the ground?

April, you are so fast! You always impress me!
The blue card I love because of that great embossing folder! The tree is such a fun stamp too. My thought is slightly different, I think I would move the image panel a little bit up and over to be more on the line of the rule of thirds. Then, I also think there would be a little bit of space for some scattered gems, I am sure you have some great little embellishments.
Just an idea!
-
Thanks for the ideas! I will work with a bit to see what helps.

Thank you ladies. I tried a red mat on the stamping and it looks great.
I hardly ever use mats, but I try. I did try a black mat and it was lost, gold made the background got lost.
Red was just right. I would never thought of red,
Then I sprayed it with gold glitter dust and now I really like it and will make more of them.
Thank you again.

Thanks for hosting, Cindi! I think I have a few ideas. I'm so behind on Christmas cards it's not even funny!
April and Yankee, love your cards!
-
Sheila, I'm so glad you are happier with your card and that the red mat worked!
Lovepug, looking forward to seeing what you make! I'm behind too :(
-
I made four Christmas cards with Christmas blub.

Nice job Yankee! Thank for sharing and linking up your cards. I think my fave is the clean white bulb with red embossing.
-
I agree, I like the white one best and it was the easiest. I was going for light and flat, easy to mail.
And it was a new to me stamp!
-
The stamp set I used does have a little onnament in it, but I didn't end up using it. :laughhard:
Oh well, here is my card:

Not a problem ;D, it's a really cute card! I love the colors, the printed papers and your flower stamps.
-
Yay, I actually had time to participate in a challenge. And the surprising thing is I had an ornament stamp. Here is my card that I layered three times.
The Technique Junkie Newsletter calls it Triple the Fun, and I included a link to the tutorial on my card description.
Here is my card.

Beth and Nora, thanks for posting your wonderful cards! I'm sorry it took me so long to comment. I've been a little bit MIA. I hope you will keep sharing your Christmas cards. I hope to add October's challenge tonight.
