LAWN FAWN - LAWN CUTS - STITCHED 4 BAR RECTANGLES
« on: August 13, 2016, 01:02:46 PM »
Has anyone tried these stitched rectangles  die cuts.  I don't own a sewing machine and so am interested in these.  Any information on them would be helpful.

Hi, Ann.  Scrapbook.com has a video showing them in use.  I'd never heard of a 4-Bar card before.  It looks like the largest of the rectangles would give you a half-inch border all around if you're making an A2 card.
VIDEO

[ETA:  The sizes listed on scrapbook.com are wrong.  Scroll down to see Jan's post for the size of a 4 bar card and one more down to see the sizes of these dies as listed on Lawn Fawn's website.]

Hope this helps.

I broke down and bought one of those cute sewing machines that Gina K. demoed, and it's still in its box.  Sigh.  I have the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches Die Set on my wish list.

I have a Die Namics die that has a pierced edge (similar to a stitched edge) and I think they look nice.   The one I have cuts a square and then piercing inside the square, but there are some that just do the piercing and don't cut.

Let me see if I have a card in the gallery that uses these.

There are a lot of die brands that have stitched or pierced dies.

Here is one where I used the small die over and over again:

And here is a Christmas card where I layered the die cuts.

Hopefully the links will show up correctly.

Heidi, I love the pierced dies.  I like the way you used the small square repeatedly on your card.  Looks great!

I have My Favorite Things Die-Namics Pierced Oval Stax (7 dies).

Here are some cards where I used that set:
All Dressed Up for Easter
Magenta Christmas Holly Birds
Magenta Biddan Ridge

ETA:  Bummer.  After I posted my links, I went back to double-check Heidi's links, and now her links take me to two of my cards.

Sorry Heidi your links also take me to my cards in the gallery. And Daria yours do the same.  Oh where do these gremlins come from?? idiot2:  Anyways Daria I'm off to look at your the video link...thanks!

Note:  4 bar cards are 3 1/2 inches by 4 7/8 inches.
4 bar envelopes are 3 5/8 inches by 5 1/8 inches.

This is smaller than our typical A2 card.

Scrapbook.com lists the sizes of the dies:  This set range in size from 1.25" x 2.5" to 3.25" x 4.5".

Jan, The largest one would work perfectly on an A2 card giving it a 1/2-inch border all the way around.  They actually just seem to be scaled down sizes that would fit an A2 rather than made for the 4 bar card sizes you listed.

Daria

ETA:  I thought maybe Scrapbook.com had the sizes wrong so I checked the Lawn Fawn website.  The sizes listed for the large 4 bar dies are:
Approximate die sizes:
4 7/8" x 3 1/2"
3 7/8" x 2 1/2"
2 7/8" x 1 1/2"
1 7/8" x 1/2"

The sizes listed on the Lawn Fawn website for the small 4 bar dies are:
Approximate die sizes:
4 3/8" x 3"
3 3/8" x 2"
2 3/8" x 1"

That makes more sense!

Thanks, Jan.

4 Bar ... I know it well!  I've been looking at paper, envelopes, more paper, more envelopes ... in the search for the perfect wedding invitation pieces.

4 Bar is the size commonly used for RSVPs.

Good detective work figuring out those die dimensions!

I like those wonky stitched dies too!  And the pierced ones.

I have the My Favorite Things Die-Namics stitched ovals and squares.  They also make cross-stitched dies, which had little x's instead of the straight stitch line.  I have the rectangle set.  I really like them.  And I think they are a better deal than the Lawn Fawn set.  The MFT sets come with 6 or 7 dies for $25 - $26, instead of the Lawn Fawn set of 3 dies for $20.
