For my challenge you will need a background stamp and a stencil.
Step 1- ink up your background stamp and stamp a card front.
Step 2- using a different color of ink, stencil over the stamped background. You can do this over the entire stamped piece or in various places.
Step 3- make a card using your inky creation
Step 4- post it in the gallery and on this thread for us all to see! Use code WF17SS
You may combine with any other challenge, and you can make any size card you'd like. Any questions just ask them here :)
There will be a RAK for this challenge. It's open 01/21-01/29. Hope you'll play along!
I have a sample created but I'm still working out my posting issues, the file size is too large and when I resize it, it's too small to view well. I will figure it out!

What a neat challenge. I am not sure I have done this combo of a background stamp and stencil before. Thanks for hosting!
-
Sounds like fun, I think I only have a couple of both background stamps and stencils so it won't be hard to figure out what to use, LOL!
-
Cool idea for a challenge. And I have plenty of both background stamps and stencils.
-
This sounds fun and I know I will be making more than one of these!

I have been playing with this today and I found the perfect stencil for it! Really fun!
-
I know exactly which background stamp I want to use and which stencil. I just need to find some crafty time.
-
Oh this sounds like a wonderfully fun challenge...and so-o like "a LeighAnn challenge"!
-
Here is my background and card I made for this challenge! I loved doing this and made 4 backgrounds!

Here is my card for the challenge: http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3157#top_display_media
The background stamp I don't have a name for it, sorry, I used a lighter ink in the middle of the stamp and darker around the edges, this was the first time I used the stencil and I think they worked ok together. It worked for a masculine card for my brother in law :)
-
Great job, April and Connie! I love the masculine cards!
-
Here is my entry for this challenge. I have a few other backgrounds, but might not get to using them during this fest as I have several other challenges to try.

Thanks so much for hosting!

Great job, Heidi! I like your stamp and stencil you used :-)
-
If I can I will do this one over. But if I don't, well I tried.
Wrong combo of stamp and stencil, wrong colors too!

When I read the directions for this, I couldn't quite see how it would turn out. Boy, did you guys prove me wrong. Great job!

ETA: Yankee, maybe if you just stamped those dandelions in black so that they showed up???
-
LeighAnn,
This (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3189#top_display_media) isn't quite an entire card front, so don't be afraid to let me know if it doesn't qualify for your challenge.
Here (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3193#top_display_media) is my finished card.
This is a different look than some of the other backgrounds because my stencil is very open ... I had fun looking through stamps and stencils. This is a technique I'd like to try again. Thanks for the challenge!
(I struggled with the layout of this card! I moved the pieces around and around ... I debated cutting the focal piece down smaller but I was afraid I'd mess it up and I kind of like the wonky stitching around it ... what to do, what to do? ) Does it need something in the empty corners?
-
Ok, I don't like failure, so I made another card and another.
I did the waves again with a different stencil.
And I did a huge word stamp with hearts stencil for a valentine card.

Yankee, those are terrific cards. Your first card was not a failure. You just can't see the dandelions very well. Since you aren't happy with it, why not try stamping the dandelion in a nice dark black so it stands out? Emboss it if you have to. The lighter gray dandelions can be shadows. I suspect that you'll like it that way.

Great job, Yankee and Iring!
I think they turned out wonderful! Thank you all for participating. I really enjoyed this technique and i feel like it gives you ways to use your stencils with stamps.
-
Yes, I need to look at my stencils for using ink, not just pastes and paints!
I totally forgot about ink.
-
I managed to make 3 different backgrounds using the same stamp and stencil combo but different colors are different parts of the stencil, but I only managed to finish one card.
Wedding Card (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=93&pid=3205#top_display_media)
The first one on the left uses grey ink to stamp the background and I used all of the stencil and two different colors of pink Distress Ink. The middle one I stamped the background with red and used all of the stencil inking with Hickory Smoke. The one on the right is stamped on pink paper with brown ink. I only used parts of the stencil and inked with Distress Ink.
-
Sarah, thank you for posting the three different backgrounds. It helps to see different options. Now I'm thinking of kraft paper with some neutral colors for a masculine card. You chose my favorite one for your beautiful wedding card.

Sarah, I hope you will use all those backgrounds. They all are fun!
-
I loved all of the entries! Everyone made some fantastic backgrounds with their stamps and stencils. I'm late to posting the winner, we've had some busy couple of days. I wrote all the names down and put them in a bowl and had my son pick one...
And he chose....
