Christmas All Year - August 2019
« on: August 01, 2019, 06:58:17 PM »
Hooray for Daria hosting Winter Holidays in July!
Lots of cards were made.  I really enjoyed seeing them in the gallery.  I don't know why, but July is a good month for Christmas card making.  Even the stamp stores have blog hops and sales celebrating it.  Did you take advantage of any sales?

This month's letter is

G

Hmmmm, what can we do with G?
Use gesso or guache, glitter, gold anything ... I'm sure you'll think of even more.

I hope you can keep your Christmas mojo flowing through August!
Please post in the Christmas All Year 2019 album in the gallery and link here.
Prompts are always optional!

Thanks for hosting!

I got a link to this video in my email today.
12 ways to add Gold to your projects.  Maybe you'll get some ideas for Christmas cards this month.

I made 12 card fronts yesterday.  Finishing up a few little things, and still need to do the insides.  I'll post soon.  Didn't follow my own prompt!

I finally got my card posted.   I made the 12 card bases and stamped the inside sentiment in two colors last night.  Glad to be finished; with this set at least!  I spent way more time than I planned.  I'm glad I finally used some of my old steel rule dies (mountains and Townscape on Edge die).  It's been a long, long time.

The inside sentiment says
"May the joys of the season
live on through the year -
Your nights filled with peace,
Each day filled with cheer!

There is a line of scroll-y pine bough underneath that is part of the stamp.  I masked that off to stamp the sentiment in black, then went back and masked the writing and stamped the pine in green ... more steps, but thank God for stamp positioners and post it tape!
I found the sentiment at Adventures in Stamping.  It's called "Joys of the Season" by The Artful Stamper.

Oh, and I just realized I DID follow the prompt with Glitter embossing powder on the mountains and snow banks.  I wish it showed up better in the picture, I tried and tried!

I hope you get a chance to work on some Christmas cards this month.  I don't recommend 12, if you're using lots of fussy die cuts!

Here is my submission for the month of August.  I am a bit behind, but I will get there yet.  It was fun  playing with this cross stitch pattern and tag.

Nora I have been searching for little cross-stitchings that will fit on that die, I have had that die for many months now and just can't find small enough patterns, did you come up with your own pattern, I am seriously thinking about trying to figure out something to stitch myself, I have grid paper I can work with.

Connie, I have been looking at Pinterest for cross stitch patterns, and I also went to the web site for  My Favorite Things - Die-Namics, and I found patterns that I have also seen on Pinterest that you can download.  I downloaded more patterns today from their site.  Hope this helps!

That really is such a warm and cozy card, Nora!
Now you have me itching to go look at tiny cross stitch patterns!

I uploaded a card with Glossy die cut numbers and a glossy mat layer.

I'm really liking the Pentel Sparkle Pop pens.  Jan introduced them to me when I was with her in April.  They have lots of sparkle, I wish it showed up better in the picture.  I had fun with Daria's RAK from her July challenge.

I was thinking I had already posted this, glad Cindi mentioned her sparkle markers that made me go check to see if I had posted mine.

Thanks for posting, Connie.  The Gold does Glimmer!  It's a pretty card.
