Make Your Own Misti - DVD cases
« on: November 04, 2015, 11:15:12 AM »
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-OroCHt54r4

I came across that video this morning that showed how some people can use a clear, flat DVD type case to make their own MISTI tool for very little money.

I have to look and see if I have anything like that, but definitely was impressed enough to share the video.

Right now, I just use my Inkadinkado stampamajig, and it works fine, too.

Oops, I didn't mean to embed the video, just link to it.  Is that okay?.

I don't know if this is the video I watched but I ordered an empty stamp case and the Little B measure thing and made one.....it works if you are interested.  I'm not sure who's video I watched but they used the Little B perfect positioner for lining up stamps so I ordered that too and it works pretty darn good.  But I already had a Misti and I use it but I have also been reading all the posts on different message boards about the Misti cracking around the hinges and across the top without much resolve from the maker so I thought well if mine cracks I want something else that works about the same.

The one I made uses the stamp case, craft foam, and the Little B perfect positioner.  Much cheaper then a Misti.
You know it's been a good day when I haven't released the flying monkeys.......

Sadie, those things about the MISTI being $$ and cracking is exactly the reason that I thought this was such a good option.  I am glad that you were able to figure out how to assemble this, it sounds like pretty much the same thing.

Thanks for sharing the link, Heidi! I'm going to see if I can make one.

Ive always liked the concept of it but couldn't justify the price, especially when you hear all of these stories of it cracking and breaking.

Speaking of MISTI alternatives...

I saw Julia Alterman use her Letterpress as a MISTI alternative today:

Here is the Letterpress on Amazon:

It is cheaper than a MISTI, but from the reviews I am not sure how good of a Letterpress it is...
