Post by: Iring on April 02, 2018, 12:28:22 PM
Is anyone participating in #THE100DAYPROJECT (https://www.the100dayproject.org/)?

It sounds kind of interesting and fun ...  and officially starts tomorrow, April 3rd, though you can jump in any time.  What would you like to do for 100 days?

I am trying to figure out how this works?  You get emails, do you post your projects somewhere?

I think you post on Instagram with the hashtag #100dayproject and you give your own personal project a distinct # so they all get grouped in a search.

ETA 2019 : The instagram hashtag for the entire project is #the100dayproject.  Each person participating is encouraged to create their own hashtag for their project so you can find/see your posts all together, or others can follow.

Oh, I see. I haven’t got an instagram, so I think I will pass this time.  I don’t know why I don’t get one, I guess I just feel like I can’t keep up with everything!

I don't use my Instagram account very often, but, it's great for the 30 day coloring challenges, list challenges, etc.  Easy to search on a # and see what everyone else is doing.  It is also very useful for weddings, when you get to that stage, ha!  Your kids are young yet.  We made up a hashtag for the wedding event and then anyone who took their own pictures could tag them with it.  That way everyone could see pictures that the official photographer might have missed.

It's free.  I definitely don't "keep up" with it.

I am so not good at doing anything for a certain time frame!
So I will have to pass.

I totally get it!  It's a very lofty goal.  Consistency is not one of my strengths!  In fact I haven't decided what I am going to try to do for 100 days and it starts today.

I signed up for the email with more information about the 100 Day Project and I got a link to some interviews (https://soundcloud.com/the-100-day-collective) with the person who inspired the project, Michael Bierut, and some people who have completed the project in the past.  This year is the 5th year.  If you only listen to one, I think the one with Michael Bierut is interesting, and maybe it will inspire you?

So, I sort of decided on a project.  Ha!  Actually I had a hard time deciding, so I picked two things and they are both way more open ended than they should be. ;D . My goals are (1) to create every day, even if it's just for 10 minutes, but with a goal of at least 20 minutes.  I'm emphasizing crochet.  I have some projects that need finishing, and some waiting to be started.  I figure if I crochet every day for 20 minutes, I have to get better, right?  Also, I have a few Craftsy classes waiting for me to watch, and practice.  Also, I know I will be away for some of the days and crochet is pretty portable.  I'm counting stamping too, if I stamp rather than crochet.  (2) do something outside every day, strive for 20 minutes.

How am I doing?  Well, it is Day 6 for me.
Outside -
I've already let the outside slide, unless I count walking the dog at night, which we do every night!  The first few days I deadheaded some hanging geraniums and cleaned up some other plants, and watered.  I hope to get back on the band wagon and get out in the daylight and make some improvements to the yard, or just pick up and water.

Create -
I added a crochet edge to a flannel, hemstitched baby bib.  Yay!  I ordered the bibs 4 years ago  :o.  I have 3 more bibs waiting for crochet edges.  Today, I haven't crocheted yet, but I did stamp a SU lavender stamp with multiple inks and techniques.  I borrowed the stamp from a friend and wanted to return it today.

I'm keeping notes on my project in a little notebook.  I am not personally posting on Instagram, at least not yet, because I think some of my crochet will be gifts that I don't necessarily want to be seen.

I listened to the interviews I linked while I crocheted, which was nice.  I will probably watch youtube videos or Craftsy classes in the future.

Anyone want to jump in?  You can start your personal 100 days any time.

Cindi, I would love to hear how you do with the crocheting every day thing!  I find that when I try to crochet more, I have a hard time getting the stamping in.   I do have some small and big project I have been meaning to try, though! It is easier to take your crochet with you instead of stamping stuff.

That is a good goal to be outside for 20 minutes a day.

I just got myself a knock off fit bit watch, so I have been trying to get my 10000 steps each day for the last week.  I didn’t make it every day, but it has helped me be more active overall.

I’m not sure what specific creative pursuit I would add?

You mentioned that you are not instagramming your projects because you won’t want family members to see their gifts.  That is why none of my family knows about my blog! I wouldn’t want them to see a card before they got it, and I am not organized enough to wait to post cards until I have sent them!

That's wise Heidi!  Easier to just not share your blog, than to keep track of which cards have been sent.

It's that time again!  #the100dayproject 2019 begins April 2, 2019.  I can't even remember how many days I lasted in the past (no where near 100), but I'm going to try again!
Any takers?

My project this year has 2 parts :
1.  add 3 goals to my bullet journal each day (to get back in the habit of using a bullet journal)
2.  use up some of my crafty stash each day (goal of 20 min of crafting)

I'm hoping at the end of the 100 days I will have more completed projects and less stash!  By projects I'm hoping to both crochet (using up some yarn) and stamp (use what I have!, paper, ink, stamps).  I plan to use my bullet journal to track progress.

Part of  #the100dayproject is to share on Instagram, but if you're not on instagram, or not comfortable ... don't.  As they keep saying, "the rules are made up".  My instagram is here (https://www.instagram.com/cindiink/?hl=en).  I'm using the hashtag #100daystocraftmystash to tag my project posts.

I'd love to have a buddy join me!

I wonder if I could use this to help get my photos in order, or in a book. I probably wouldn’t share as much on instagram, since it is a lot of photos of other people’s kids that I want to get in a scrapbook and I wouldn’t have their parent’s permission.  I will just be getting back from the funeral Wednesday, but maybe I could start late.

I followed your instagram.

Yes!  You can make your project anything you want, and start when you’re able.  What about showing a photo of a stack of photos to be organized?  And update the stack as it gets organized?  Maybe 1 big stack ends up in organized piles?  I won’t be able to photo some of my crochet projects, some will be gifts.  I might have to photo my yarn ball getting smaller!

Sorry about your uncle.  I hope you get to share some fun memories.

I don't think I'm very good at explaining what #the100dayproject is.

It starts today!  But hey, start when you want and see if you can do some creative act for 100 days.

Here (https://www.the100dayproject.org/podcast) is a podcast if you want to learn more.  Maybe sit with a cup of coffee or tea and do something creative while you listen, color, crochet, sort ...

There is a nagging voice in me that wonders if I should have chosen to purge a little every day, walk every day, in the podcast they mentioned a new recipe every day ... but those things though beneficial maybe, didn't feel creative, FOR ME, though I can see them feeling good to someone else.  I feel like if I'm going to track this, maybe I should track walking, or cleaning my craft room ... but I never track, so I think it's ok to give myself permission to start by tracking 1 thing, 1 creative thing of my choosing.

Hahaha!  Ok, just realized that in a way, when I added bullet journaling to my project, I did add a bit of a chore ... but today I looked at it and decided to stamp in it to use ink that bled through the page (from my tracker) in a creative way.  So maybe it won't be such a chore!
