Something Old, Something New Challenge
Welcome to Winterfest 2015!
This challenge opens on Saturday, February 21 and ends on Sunday, March 2.
Keyword: WF15-Old/New
I saw a card in the gallery a while back that had an older image coupled with a more modern technique. It made that older image seem new again. So my challenge is to take an old image, the older the better, and use it on a card that you’ve created using a technique that may not have been around when that stamp was made.
So what’s an “old” image? That’s going to be relative. Let’s say something at least three years old, but really, those of us who have been stamping for a lot longer than that should reach back for something much older.
What’s a “modern” technique? That’s a matter of opinion. Some older techniques are back in style. I don’t pay much attention to what’s in style, but you might check out some blogs to see what people are doing these days. If you have the supplies to try out a technique you’ve never used before but want to try out, now’s the time to pull out those supplies and do that technique. If you already use the current techniques and/or art media, then just use one of them with an older image.
Clarification: You may use a technique or art medium that is new in the sense of current or modern, or you may use an older technique or art medium that is new to you.
Requirements:
1. You must make a new project. It can be a card or something else.
2. Please post your project in the Artsy Inker Gallery set aside for Winterfest 2015. Begin the Subject line with WF15. Under Keywords, use WF15-Old/New.
3. Please link your gallery post to this thread and share your experiences here.
4. You may combine this challenge with other challenges.
I’d like to offer an apology up front. I won’t be monitoring this thread as often as I would like. A very dear friend had a stroke on Valentine’s Day so I’ll often be away from the computer, but I’ll check in at least once a day—hopefully more than that.
BTW, if you posted the card that inspired this challenge, let me know so I can link it here. I know I left a comment on it.
Thanks to all who participate. I do look forward to seeing what you come up with.
