Title: Zoom Crafting (6/10) Supply List
Post by: howdyheidi on June 08, 2020, 01:49:40 PM
If you are planning to join our Zoom crafting meeting this Wednesday, this is what I suggest you have on hand to do the technique.

Background stamp, stamped with Versamark and heat embossed on watercolor paper.  I would suggest a pattern that has plenty of open space. I practiced on Hero Arts Four Leaf Grid, to give you an idea.  If you have several ready, you will be good in case of accidents or good to make several backgrounds!

Also acrylic blocks, Water mister and Distress Inks (or any dye inks) in either a rainbow of colors of analogous colors.

NOTE: Zoom sometimes uses a lot of battery power, so have your phone, device or computer charged up enough!

I used white.  I am thinking it would be okay to emboss in different colors too.  Even black might look interesting.

Also, you could Stamp and emboss during the meeting, I just think embossing is the hard part and it is easier to be prepared.

We might have to mute you if you emboss during the meeting  ;).  Or maybe your heat gun is quieter than mine!

Thanks Heidi, I'll get ready!

Thanks! I will get my bgs ready too! Cindi, for some reaon I can't click on the link to zoom meeting. Usually the links are highlighted in blue and are underlined and this one is not. Heidi said I might could use the ID # or password.

Yes! You can always mute yourself for a minute while you do it.  That is what I did when I used my Gemini Jr during a zoom meeting. It is also ridiculously loud!

April, I'm glad you now have a clickable link!

If anyone else doesn't see a link, I will send you another invitation, or as Heidi said, you should be able to gain access by going to zoom.us and using the meeting number and password.  It's easy for me to send another invite too, just let me know.

This is getting exciting!

I finally found this, I didn't get a notice in my email, so I went searching but I got it, man most of my backgrounds are all very small, except for that swirl I already used in the last challenge, maybe I could make an all over background using stamps, what do you think of that?  Today is yard work day since it is the coolest day of the week, so I hope to get this all ready before I have to get on at 6 my time :)

Connie, the swirl stamp is a good choice for this technique.  You could make an all over background if you wanted.

It is really hot and humid here today too.

Thanks for meeting up on zoom, everyone!

If you decide to make any of your backgrounds into cards, please post them in the gallery!  I know we shared them in the meeting but it might be nice to take a closer look.

See you again sometime!

Yes, it was fun!  The technique was perfect for being able to ink and still chat together.   It's always fun to see how everyone's results are unique with different colors and stamps.  I hope we continue to meet via Zoom!

I made a couple cards using just the first background we worked on :)

Here are two of my cards.  The first one has the basic instructions for doing this type of watercoloring. (Jan asked me to share how I did it. Let me know if this makes sense.)

The variation some of us tried was the use a small Block, like a 1 inch square to apply the color in a random patch work instead of rows.

That is what I did for this Christmas card I already posted earlier.
