Oh my! How did we get so close to Christmas, so fast?! November is a great time to finish up your Christmas cards so they are ready for mailing.
This is the year I get mine mailed! Last year I was in a boot and crutches, my Mom broke her hip and my Dad went to the ER at least once ... I let the Christmas cards slide. I haven't counted recently, but I think between the few I made last year, and this year ... I might be getting close.
If you're one of the lucky ones and your Christmas cards are done, don't forget it's fun to stamp tags and gift card holders too.
This month's letter is
J
Can you think of any "J" techniques, embellishments or images? What about sentiments ?
How about "Joy", "jingle all the way", jingle bell images
I'm sure you will think of more. Have fun! Please post to the Christmas All Year album in the gallery and link here.

I made another Christmas card (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=4681#top_display_media). This time using Heidi's "It's a Wrap" challenge. Darn, I should have used "Joy" on the front instead of "Peace", haha! Then I would have followed my own prompt!
-
My COLD card is a Christmas card too!

It really is cute Heidi! Thanks for linking up here.

I have 4 cards today. I am doing a 12 x 12 one sheet wonder, but making the layouts more interesting so I am taking my time.

They are adorable Heidi! You can tell you are taking your time ... I hope you share the rest of your one sheet wonder cards here as well. Card making is not fast is it?! You will have a wonderful set of cards when you are done!

No, cardmaking is not so fast! Maybe it is faster if you just followed instructions. For my card today, I used the current Mojo Monday sketch, and she now adds in the measurements which really does make it go much faster!
-
Oh, yes, I bet having measurements and a sketch would help! I need to take a look at those sketches. I really like your card. Thanks for linking it up here.

Here is my submission for the month of November. Thanks so much for your great challenge!

Yay! J for joy! Thanks for using the prompt and linking here. I love this card! Has me wondering if I can do something similar ...
-
I made a set of 4 of these using Connie's One Sheet Wonder template and oldie but goodie Basic Grey - Dasher papers. I think I will make another set! I cut two sets of template pieces.
It was fun playing with older papers and border punches again, and even some faux stitching and inking of edges. Old school card, ha!

Way to go with another card set, Cindi!
Here are 4 more for my 12 x 12 one sheet wonder. The last set will be ready tomorrow.

I love your added touches Heidi, like the ribbon and the heart embellishments. Great idea to combine the smallest images with the large sentiment! Thanks for link here.
No wonder it takes forever to use up our printed paper stash! You will get 12 cards from one sheet of 12x12?! We need 9 lives like your cat to use up our paper ...
Or maybe I can use this knowledge as inspiration to let some PP go? Only keep the very, very favorite. It's so hard. I like it all.

Hurray! I did my own challenge and used the prompt! Doesn't happen that often ::)
Joyul Gnomes (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=4711#top_display_media)
I've been having fun using up some Christmas printed paper with Connie's One Sheet Wonder template. I'm just loving the gnomes that are popular right now! I found a cut file and some appropriate papers and used my Silhouette cameo to make gnomes.
I used a Hero Arts stamp and cut set for the sentiments. I'm really disappointed. I love this set, BUT, if you notice the "T" in "Tidings" is a little thicker on one card. When I stamped the second card, the top of the "T" did not stamp. I inked again. Nope, still not right. The top of the T is now completely missing from the stamp. (I wrote it in with a glue pen and embossed a second time, not perfect, but I don't think a Versafine pen writes thin enough) These are really fine line letters, and the T is very close to the edge of one of the photopolymer stamps and it completely crumbled away. I looked at the "Peace, Love and " sentiment. Same thing! The "P" has crumbled.
:(
The stamps are just a little bit sticky. I googled to see if this stamp set is still for sale. It is. So it's not that old. When it was just one sentiment, I was going to let it go ... but if all of the sentiment stamps start falling apart, I think I will contact Hero Arts. Oh, and the dot ripped away from the top of the J on the Joy stamp. Should I just blame user error? Maybe I cleaned them on a stamp scrubber in the past? This time I just wiped with a damp micro fiber cloth. I rarely if ever use Stazon, so I don't think it's the ink. What would you do?
ETA : I stamped out the entire set. I had to ink 3 times with Versafine onyx black, especially to get the JOY to stamp solidly. Now I notice that more of the "Tidings of Comfort" has crumbled, Peace is missing most of the "P" and the "u" in "To You and Yours" will not stamp completely either.
-
Cindi, I love those gnomes!
I have the “Happy” hero arts stamp n cut set. I didn’t have trouble with it the last time I used it. That is too bad that your stamps are not standing the test of time. I would be disappointed too. I don’t think that cleaning a stamp on a stamp scrubber should make them fall apart. I might contact Hero Arts and see what they have to say.
I don’t know how long clear stamps should last. There are some people who say the ones recently made should last as long as rubber, but I think they are either overly optimistic or uninformed. But definitely they should last 10 years minimum.
-
If they were cheap stamps, I would not be so surprised. I often check clear stamps to see if they are made in the USA. I thought Hero Arts were higher quality, that's why I am surprised. I also own a Peace set and Happy. Neither of them has been used very often. I think I will stamp them out as well.
-
Heidi, in your gallery comment you mentioned the border punch that I used. Yes, I like that one too! In addition to the tiny holes, it embosses two lines along the points. Might not show up in my picture. And this punch works well! I had to throw away one of my mom's Martha Stewart punches last weekend because it just would not punch completely. We looked underneath and the metal was bent, so it obviously had never been able to work.
I'm sure I bought this punch when Michael's had a whole wall of Martha Stewart paper crafting. Not so much any more.
An example of why we need to play with our toys as soon as we bring them home! Otherwise it's too late to return them when they are defective.

Happy to report that my Hero Arts "Happy" and "Peace" Stamp & Cut sets work fine. Phew! I emailed the picture of the stamped impression of the "Joy" set to Hero Arts. I'll let you know what happens.
-
I emailed the picture of my Joy stamps, stamped out to Hero Arts. I mentioned the die is fine, can the stamps be replaced?
I received quick replies from Hero Arts via email.
First they asked if I remembered when and where I bought my stamp set?
I was pretty sure it was at Joann's, over a year or two ago. So no receipt.
Then they asked for my address so they can send me a new set.
Yay Hero Arts!

Good news! I was pretty sure they would do that. I wonder if they were stored improperly or something, before you purchased it.

I wonder if they were stored improperly or something, before you purchased it.
I had the same thought. At first I thought maybe it was me, but all 3 sets are stored and used the same way, and two are fine. So it could be that this set sat on a truck in the heat somewhere? Once I started stamping them all out, and found that the Peace sentiment was also bad, I remembered that one failed early on. So I really do think they were not right to begin with ... I just hadn't stamped them all out before. In fact at least two or three were bad prior to this year's card making ... "Tidings" was the last straw!
I received a set of Sizzix stamps as a gift (not made in USA) that I suspect may have come from a garage sale. They were a sticky, gooey mess! Looked fine in the package, but very sticky and could not be pulled off the acetate without making a mess.
-
Here are my last 4 one sheet wonder cards. I tried to put them all in one photo so as not to overwhelm the gallery.

I totally recommend doing this type of project to help create a lot of cards, but without having to make them all the same, which is how many kits are set up.
-
That is another great set of cards Heidi! Don't worry about flooding the gallery, you can post individually. Each of your cards is unique. This is a fun way to make Christmas cards. Not quite as fast as mass producing the exact same card, but fun.
Hey! I got a package from Hero Arts yesterday! They sent me a new Joy stamp and cut set. AND, included a free Clearly Kelly stamp set called "Kelly's All Decked Out". I think I will be able to use it in the Christmas journal/album I made at the scrapbook store. It's really cute.

Here is another submission for this month's challenge. Thank you so much for this fun event! I now have 40 Christmas cards completed.

Way to go Nora! 40 cards, yay! I'm glad you enjoy this challenge. I love the way you used your stencil. It looks really nice with the holly.

Here are 4 pet related cards I made yesterday.

Even with these added in, I am a few cards short! Since I wanted to send some to the Angel tree, I am doing a one sheet wonder today that makes 8 cards. I hope I finish I have so much else to do too.
Wish me luck!
