Ok, so I just finished assembling my matchbox, and I'm not sure what I did wrong, but there is more than 1/2 inch extra cover beyond the drawer.

Ot-oo the cover is not suppose to be a more than a smidgeon longer.  Can you please send me the length of the cover as well as your drawer...that will help me determine if I have an error in the instructions.

For now you certainly can cut almost a 1/2" off the cover.  Your box will be smaller but at least it would be usuable. :o

Are all your sides folded so they are only 2 layers?   Also did you have any issues with understanding instructions that were unclear?

Thanks for your help Sarah!

My cover is 2 7/8 wide and 3 3/4 long.  My drawer is 2 7/8 wide and 3 1/4 long. The sides are only 2 layers.  I don't think I had any issues understanding the instructions.

I've been thinking, and I'm wondering if the measurements for the drawer should be 4 3/4 by 5 3/4 - since you are taking off 2 inches from the length and width to make the sides (3 3/4 + 2 = 5 3/4)?

YES, Sarah you are right!  I had the correct measurements on my prototype but I had major issues with all the photos on the post and blogger gave me fits deleting info when I tried to publish Saturday morning....anyways it is correct now! Well everything almost...the post's address somehow deleted the extra f in winterfest ...so I have updated the link on this thread.

I am happy with the corrected size for now it will hold an ATC as I had planned.

Many, many thanks Sarah :smitten: for letting me know and helping to troubleshoot the problem.  Yay, now we know the other players will be working with "road tested" instructions.

I figured it was probably a typo since it was only one number off.  And your welcome. I'll fix the link on the cheat sheet.

I finally posted my matchbox.  I ended up making a whole new one because I wasn't loving the first one I made.  I may go back to it at some point.

Matchbox and Magnet (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=2406&message_id=11922b7797095151d96dd4f18a94cee0&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)

My surprise is a magnet.

The first picture attached is the first one I made with the too short drawer.  The next is a close-up of the magnet.  And the last is a picture of the drawer pull brad.

Tried again, started with white cardstock, stenciled it twice, stamped words on it inked it.  Put made made flower on it.  Made an ATC for the inside.

So I finally got this done. I am not sure if I made the right decision on style for my box, but I did have some fun stamping it.  I could not think of another surprise, so I followed the lead of many of you and did an ATC.

Here is a photo of my project: http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=2445#top_display_media

Thanks for the fun and interesting challenge!
