INF'14 Book'em challenge (10/04-10/12) WINNER ANNOUNCED!
« on: October 03, 2014, 07:44:32 PM »
Here's my challenge for INF'14!
A lot of you guys have participated in my monthly tag swaps. This challenge is a bit of a twist on those.
First off, no swappingis required for this challenge. Of course, you may send your tag to someone if you like.
I usually display the tags that are sent to me and store them in a little album. But I know we've discussed before different ways that you can use your tags. One way is as a bookmark.

So the challenge will be to create a tag that you could use as a bookmark.
It MUST be a single layer tag. As in no layering of papers, no folds, nothing dimensional.
I have a sample I will attach once I take a picture.

Keyword for this challenge is BEINF14
You may combine this with other challenges.
There will be a RAK for this. I hope you'll play along. #>

Fun!  I really like making bookmarks!  Does our bookmark tag need to be the tradition tag shape (like the Ranger tags) or can they be thinner like a traditional book mark?

I actually already have an idea.

I think this is a great challenge because sometimes people wonder what they are going to do with a tag, and you have already told us what to do with it.

Thank you for hosting.

I'm fine with it being either the traditional or the thin traditional size ones O0

Thanks for the challenge!  Single layer projects are indeed a challenge and take some planning ... hmmmm I'll need to think about this one.

Well this will take some thought.  The single layer part will take much thought.  Thank you for hosting such a thought provoking challenge.

Cool.  I can never have enough bookmarks.  I'm glad you made it one layer without embellishments; that's the only kind I'll put inside a book.

Thanks for the challenge.

Hooray! Glad you all like this challenge! Yes, the single layer can propose a bit of a challenge. I caught myself several times almost adding something to mine. I will get my pic uploaded today.

I completed this challenge while making another sample for my own challenge.  I really love bookmarks. I think these would make really nice gift tags and be a gift in itself!

I can't believe Heidi has already finished a challenge.  I haven't even gotten to my craft desk yet.

Very cool challenge.  I don't tend to use bookmarks much anymore since I got my kindle, but this could make a cool stocking stuffer for my mom.

I got my bookmark done.  This is a first for me.  I don't think I've ever had a project finished and posted on the first day of a party before.

Squirrel Bookmark

Since I'm going to use it as a stocking stuffer for my mom, I went with a squirrel image.  I have several.  And I found out that I have over a dozen acorn stamps.

I realized after I finished that I failed to check with LeighAnn to make sure it was ok to add fibers at the top for sticking out of the book.  I just automatically think of bookmarks having yarn or some kind of fibers that stick out the top.  I hope that's ok.

And I actually hate how the hand drawn heart came out.  So I changed the bookmark after taking the picture.  I used a Spellbinder die to cut out the offending heart and then cut a new heart from one of the reject background pieces.  This piece was the third attempt for Heidi's challenge.  I restamped the sentiment and inked the edges of the new heart with Distress Ink in Tea Dye.  I mounted the bookmark on a scrap piece of paper and inlayed the new heart.

I made a tag for a bookmark and incorporated words that have meaning in what I think of when I think of reading.  I love to read but I usually read on my Kindle so no need for a bookmark.  I think I will give this to my grandson.  Hopefully he will like it.  Reading Bookmark

Thank you for looking.
