Woo Hoo. I'm the first to sign up.   Although picking 3 of my favorite stamps is going to be hard.

OK I figure the deadlines are tight enough to allow me to join for April, April. ;D May may be a whole different matter, but it'll happen if it happens.

Since I've done a good bit of cleaning out today, I'm going to put my kits together now--before I lose track of where stuff is.

I don't have a prob with the 'fave' stamps. Mine are (often) the ones I have handy. ;D

I really like the 'AI Challenges' tie-in for our kit projects. Apart from the ones in our challenges section, we have the challenges from our fests & even some of the 'swap' ones.

We've definitely made progress since Sadie  :smitten: offered us Peas & more a place to play. O0

Sorry, I need to skip April.  I am pretty sure I will be back for May.  Will be fun to see what you guys come up with!

Woo Hoo. I'm the first to sign up.   Although picking 3 of my favorite stamps is going to be hard.

I've chosen & stamped my images. Each is fave of sorts--either the image itself, the category or the designer. Actually, Sarah? I have you to thank for helping me choose one of my faves.  ??? It was something you shared about your (previous) weekend plans. Bet you'll figure it out.  ;)

Far as the 'tie-in' to AI challenges--past & present? I did a quick cruise thru them (regular & fest ones) & I see some possibilities. But I don't think I'll gear my kit items to any particular ones.

One thing I have noticed is that many of our challenges lend themselves to creating either backgrounds or coloring images in a particular way. That should help us when we're working with pre-stamped images.

Because I'm able to, I'm using StazOn for all my stamped images. That should help me & my swapmate when we make our projects.

Hi Cindi. Glad you're joining us. I'm pretty sure CarribeanGirl means 'Artsy Inkers' by AI. Of course the alcohol ink challenges can be used as inspiration for a project, but there are lots of other challenges, too. What challenge(s) you use is up to you. HTH.

Daniel - glad I could help you pick one of your favs.

I think I know 2 of the 3 stamps I'm going to pick but that last one is going to be tough to pick.  Fortunately I have Friday off, so I can spend the day putting together my kit.  It may take all day for me to decide.

Ahhhh, yes!  I just have alcohol ink on my brain this week.   Working on Jan's challenges.  You're right Daniel, there are lots of challenges to choose from here.

'Sok, Cindi. Abbreviations can be a PITA when they can stand for lots of different things. Even 'context' doesn't always help in some cases.

My kit is ready to mail. Not bragging, just know I had to do it while I could. And I made 2 pieces from my 'kept'--one uses a challenge. Again. Not being a smarty-pants. Just doing what I must with the time available.

I know CG (April) is busy with her move, but I'm sure she'll post the send-tos soon. Glad we're still keeping KIAE going & how many are able to join is not a big thing. Long as even just 2 AIs do a swap &/or challenge, it's fine. It means members are inter-acting & that's one reason we have this place. Right? O0

BTW? I'm a bit 'slow'. Took me a bit to 'get' CG's 'joke' with the theme. Hint... Julie Andrews singing her guts out in Austria 50 years ago... ::) :laughhard:

I'm finishing up moving today. I will post partners at some point tonight. I'm sorry for being absent, but this move is crazy time consuming. Hoping for a little more normalcy in the next few days!  :-\

Based on a short email chat with CG yesterday, I know she was being pushed heavily to get completely moved out by last nite. I'm guessing she just wasn't able to post the send-tos.

I should have asked her if she wanted me to post them, but since its just 4 of us this month--April, Sarah, Cindi & me--I don't see a big problem with a (slight) delay in getting our swapmates.

I do, however, suggest that we all have our kits ready to go by the sending deadline--April 6. Looking forward to seeing what each of us does this month.

Partners have been posted. Sorry for the delay. Worked on moving things until 11:30 last night and then got back up at 4 this morning ti finish up. I am now officially finished with that part. Now I have to put everything up in the new place. I really hate moving!!

Yikes, April.  Moving does stink.  At least the hard part is done.

BTW? I'm a bit 'slow'. Took me a bit to 'get' CG's 'joke' with the theme. Hint... Julie Andrews singing her guts out in Austria 50 years ago... ::) :laughhard:
I didn't catch it until you mentioned it.

I am so going to have to get a move on my kit tomorrow.  ACK.  And I'm very excited to see Daniel's favorites.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter & isn't suffering from a sugar overload.

Kits are due for mailing today. I made it a point not to overthink what went in my envelope so I could build the kit quickly. As I've already shared, my images are 'faves', but I also kept my other items in check. It was a struggle, tho'. It's so tempting to throw in tons of stuff, isn't it?! I kept to PPs & an additonal 'something' & called it good.

'Course what you put in your kit is up to you.

As I've also shared, I did 2 projects from my kept kit. Only one is truly 'challenge-related' & it also follows the '3 item' rule. The other is 'challenge free' (unless I can find one it fits). Can't recall if I used 3 items, but I know I used 2 for sure.

Looking forward to the 'challenges' in Sarah's kit!

With Heidi's help, I can share my 'kept' projects. :smitten:

My first is the one I did with all the 'required' stuff. It's 'stamp faves' are my recipe stamps from Sweet Stampen & the dwarf/elf/gnome from IBFS. It's challenge is StampWilly's 'Chalk Pop' Oldies. I used an 'intaglio' stamp & (made) chalk powder.  Seven pint jars (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1452).  ;D

My 2nd project uses 2 items from my kept--the frog image (I love my frog stamps) & the butterfly scraps. Dining on the Fly (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1453).

I have a 4th fave, but haven't used it yet.  ;)

Daniel,
I love your project titles, clever guy that you are!  Your coloring is awesome.  Love the mottled colors you got especially on the frog.  Good for you, ahead of the game.

:o I missed last call at the PO yesterday, I'm ashamed to say.  Rest assured your envelope is on its way April.

Unlike Daniel,
Quote
I made it a point not to overthink what went in my envelope
.  Overthinking is what I do best!  I had a hard time picking favorite stamps.  I love all my "children" equally, haha.  Finally I picked one stamp that I just love "his" smile, another that represents one of life's simple pleasures that I thoroughly enjoy, and another that I really like the stamp and it's real life counterparts.  You'll have to wait and see what they are.

Maybe I can play with my kit tonight ... I have some challenges in mind.

Your kit went postal yesterday, Daniel.  As I tend to do, it is stuffed full of stuff.  And I didn't limit myself to 3 favorites.   :o  Hey, the rules just say at least 3 favorites, April didn't prohibit us from including more.  You gotta watch us lawyer types, we'll find the loophole.   ;D

I can't wait to get my hand on that frog image.  I don't know what I'm going to do with it, but I can't wait.

I started my kept kit yesterday by doing the watercolor embossing technique from Winterfest.  I love that technique.

Oh, and I love your pieces Daniel.  They came out fabulous.

I finished a card from my kept kit tonight.  I tied it to Far North's alcohol ink challenge series.  I'm going to wait until April gets her kit in the mail before I post it.  It feels good to be 1/2 done.  Now I can relax and watch for happy mail!

LOL, Sarah! There are more than 3 images in my kit, too. Glad you like froggie. He's a stamp from IBFS. I considered using 'Fergus', but figgured a less-detailed image would give us a greater chance to play. Far as how much is in your 'sent' kit? I like stuff!

LOL, Cindi! I can overthink with the best of them, but (right now) it's a luxury I can't afford. :(

Glad the kit arrived, Sarah. Have fun.

As you can see, my 4th image is one of the Rick St. Dennis bears. Many of them are definite faves for me. Not sure if I'll get a chance to use the image, but may try--maybe for a Christmas card using Cindi's April prompt (flowers).

So glad to see that kits are starting to arrive! I received my kit from Cindi today as well. Cannot wait to get started on it. It is fabulous!! Probably won't get to it until next week as I still have to work on my ATC for LeighAnn's swap. I'm also coaching my little creature's soccer team and he's playing t-ball, so things are quite busy around here :o Hope everyone has a great weekend. I am off to get ready for soccer practice  #>

Hurray!  Everybody's happy!  I got my kit today too!  I love the images, all new to me.  Thanks for the nicely coordinated kit, April.  My neighbor/friend has a birthday next week and she loves her kitty so I might just get her a card made.

I hope you didn't have any of that nasty weather that crossed the country yesterday.

And here is the card I made from the kit I received from CaribbeanGirl.

Birthday kitty (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=1461#top_display_media)

I knew when I opened the envelope I would most likely use one of the kitten images first!  I need a birthday card for my friend and neighbor who definitely loves her cat.

It was an interesting twist to tie our projects to Artsy Inker challenges, great idea!  It gave me a chance to try the bokeh technique I missed during the Winterfest hangover.  The technique was fun.  My only comment is that it takes Hero Arts Unicorn (white) pigment ink forever to dry!!  I even gave it a blast with a heat gun, and it still wasn't dry when I went to bed last night.  I would think it would dry relatively quickly on watercolor paper.  No.

It was fun to be back playing KIAE!  Thanks for hostessing April, and thanks for the cute kit!  I hope to make some more cards from it soon.

I uploaded my last 2 pieces. The first link is the project I made using items from the kit Nerd sent me. For the 'challenge' requirement, I went with 'crayon resist' (one of StampWilly's 'Oldies' challenges), but did not use a multi-color inkpad--my bad.   'Don't Worry' (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1473)

Since the card I made using Cindi's April Christmas card prompt includes the last of my fave 'stamps' (a St. Dennis bear), I'll link it here, too. 'Flour' Power (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1470)

This month will most likely be my last KIAE until I get settled in my new home. I've had fun playing since April & I began the swap/challenge. O0

Cindi - I had the same issue with the Unicorn ink when I did the bokeh technique.  It drove me batty waiting for it to dry.  Both your cards came out amazing.

Daniel - we will definitely miss having you as a swapper in the coming months.  I love what you did with the kit I sent you.  I never would have thought to cut out the flowers like that.

Oddly enough, I used the fairy image too.  I've got my pieces done, I just need to photo them tomorrow and post them.

Post by: Looser on April 19, 2015, 03:48:58 PM
With a bit of luck, Sarah, I may be able to play in June--here's hoping.

I was hoping to use the entire stamped flower panel, but doing the punchouts worked pretty well. They remind me of a 'Tudor Rose'. And I'm so happy you included sentiments on tissue!!! That really made adding it easier!

I laffed at Jan's post in the gallery. I always say, "Conceit don't run in my family; It gallops!"  :laughhard:

While I'm sharing stuff... I used the 'crayon resist' with my 'ink swipe' for this and the bear on the Christmas card. When I did  crayon-coloring on one of my bear images it looked great (why be humble?). I finished it off with a good rub of white crayon to seal the deal before 'swiping & wiping' it with dye ink (I use Distress Inks mostly). Result? I made a huge mess! It felt like the white crayon 'grabbed & held' the DI. Makes me wonder if Distress Ink will 'stick to' wax? No plans to explore this now, but I'll tuck it somewhere in my crowded brain for a future exploration.

Here is the card I made with the kit I received from Daniel.  I really love this frog.
Tree Frog (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1486&message_id=c8207a637f814425f21e6d85cb71df67&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)

I combined it with this month's oldie challenge.  I've included in the post a picture of the pp before I added the Distress Ink.

For my kept kit project, I used the same image as Daniel.
fairy card (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1487&message_id=950a9648c2e81ac2fdb1f7aaf672b118&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)

Daniel - I'm glad you like the sentiments on the tissue paper.  I had a particular use in mind, which is why I stamped on the tissue paper.  I'll post pictures when I get that project finished.

My vote is for the 'great minds', Sarah.  ;D I'm so glad you added the pic of the PP before altering. I couldn't quite recall what it looked like.  :idiot2:  Your choice of stamp for it was 'perfect' And... It fun to see how the 'over' ink not only 'pops' the stamped image, but also allows some of the original pattern of the paper to still appear. Very neat!

One of the topics CG (April) have discussed over the months that this swap/challenge has existed is that it might be fun sometime to keep & swap a much more limited # of items. Both swappers would be required to make a project using the same items.  We might 'theme' the kit, but the project wouldn't have a specific requirement other than for both swappers to employ the same stamp image(s) & 2 other non-image items.  The idea most likely needs tweaking, but it could be a fun experience.

As always, April & I welcome ideas from y'all. ;)

I think that does sound fun to really limit the items sent so long as there were not other difficult twists.

Thanks, Heidi. I agree that this germ of an idea might be best without 'twists'. Not even sure if a kit 'theme' is something we'd want as a 'Hoster-dicated' one. BUT... It might be fun for each KIT swapper to pick a 'theme' of their own & share it with their swapmate. I think this has possibilities to 'shake up' KIAE in a good way.

When April & I finally connected by phone (I used my cellphone! O0), we had a lovely chat. Apart from how busy each of us ia this month & into June, we both agreed we'd like to continue KIAE, but maybe with something to freshen, but not completely alter. The 'basics' work, but it's easy to get into a rut. KWIM?

Hopefully... Once I get my legs under me in FL I'll be able to resume my half of the hosting chores.
