Hi guys #>
Here's the sign up for June's swap.
Sign up will be now through Sunday. I will post swappers sometime on Monday.
Your send by date will be June 16th
Technique requirement will be the black magic stamping technique
Heres a good tutorial on it
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/blackmagic/
There's also several good videos available on YouTube.
I think you could maybe use pigment ink or crayons in substitute of the colored pencils if you don't have any?
Any questions, just post them here ;)
-
I will sign up O0
-
I'm in too!
-
Me too, or three
-
Me four. ;D
-
Don't have white ink, but I've got something that should work so... Count me in, Pug.
-
I would think white embossing powder would work the same wouldn't it?

That's the 'route' I plan to travel, Kathy. And Staples has a deal on colored 'sharpies' that I can use in place of the colored pencils. I have 2 ATCs ready to color once I get the markers--probably tomorrow.
-
Sign me up! And thank you for hosting.
-
Kathy, I think that would work too. I thought maybe acrylic white paint but I wonder if it would crack once colored over it.
My allergies have been bad the past 2 days and I took an allergy pill last night and couldn't sleep! It makes me feel jittery so I ended up making 4 ATCS and one card with this technique. It's really fun to experiment with.
-
LeighAnn so glad you are back hosting again!
Acrylic Paint can also react as a resist ...so probably coloring will take some creative thinking and experimenting.
Please include me in this challenge too.
Is there a different name for the technique when it is done on dark kraft paper?
...Jan

Sign me up! :D I have wanted to try this technique so I am so excited!
I did color an image the other day that I made using white EP and alcohol markers....and I cannot say if it's similar to this method as I haven't tried this one, but the one thing with using white EP was that the tip of my alcohol markers would be real light in color after I finished using them on the EP....I haven't gone back to check to see if the tip is back to normal yet (about to go do that), but I was hoping it the EP and alcohol weren't reacting to each other.
-
Melissa - I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that alcohol ink markers will react with some embossing powders.
-
Sarah I think I read that too years ago--- I thought I read somewhere that said that alcohol markers will EAT the EP.....but when I saw the Splitcoaster tutorial last week on making an image appear as "chalk" by coloring over white EP, I had forgotten that tidbit---that is until I saw my tips turning pale in color!

Sign me up too

I think Jan had asked what the technique is called when using Kraft cs. I'm not sure? Anyone know? Both are such pretty results!
-
No prob, Pug! I pm'd Melissa my current address & I have Cindi's addy.
-
I've got Kathy's address and I haven't moved LeighAnn, so I believe you have mine.
-
I'm sure I have Sadie's address somewhere, but of course can't find it. I will PM her!
-
My ATC(s) are out for mail pick-up today.
I had fun with the Black Magic technique. I substituted white EP for the white ink & used Sharpies for the coloring. Turned out ok. Hope you like them, Cindi.
-
Well now that the AIR challenges I can get going on this one. Never done this challenge so will see how it goes.
-
I received Yankee's lovely ATC! Thank you!
-
My ATC when in the mail today to Ann.
-
I'm still working on my idea for the ATC. This is definitely on my to do list for this weekend.
-
I put the ATC in the gallery.
-
I have my image stamped, but the coloring was a problem on a sample. My colored pencils didn't make a pretty color, the color was absorbed by the black paper and I wanted the coloring to stand out.
What have you had good luck with?
I have all kinds of ink markers copics inclulded and primiscolors - what do you think would quality and have the best results. I want bright and fun outstanding colors.
-
When I saw the utube on this , the lady said you have to use watercolor pencils because the lead is softer.
So maybe softer lead would get down more pegment.
-
I put mine in the mail today! I used Inktense watercolor pencils and the color was fairly vibrant.
-
Yes, the watercolor pencils work great. Thanks for the suggestion.
-
My tag will go in the mail on Monday. I like this technique and will do more in the future.
-
Sarah, I got my ATC out in the mail to you Saturday.
Fantastic ATC, Yankee! I hope your foot is healing!
I have played around with this technique some and I really like the inktense pencils with it. So far I tried those, prismacolor and crayolas. All worked well but the inktense did seem more vibrant.
-
I finished my ATC this weekend and it will be in the mail tomorrow.
-
Mine is done too and will go in the mail tomorrow winging it's way to Yankee!
-
Daniel I will try to get your ATC in the mail tomorrow. We just got back from a long vacation to Minneapolis, MN and I hope to get into the craft room this afternoon! O0

No problem, Melissa. Hope you had a nice trip.
Iring got the ATCs I sent her. I did 2 because the first Fiesta Chicken (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1679) was something of a test. I stamped with Versamark & used white EP for the images. The coloring was done with Sharpies. It got a bit 'muddy' in some spots, but I found that the technique worked as an alternative to white ink & colored pencils--neither of which I have.
For the 2nd ATC--Trees & Frog (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1678)--I restrained myself with the coloring so some of the white remained showing. I also found that using the side of the marker tips helped lay in the color.
-
I completed one but was unhappy with it. I am letting it sit and may try another if I have time today. I still have a bit of time before the mail by date.
Daniel, I was surprised how well the sharpies colored on the white embossing powder!
-
I mailed out the ATC I did to Yankee yesterday. I also received the ATC from SWLady.....it is beautiful. So beautiful. Thank you very much SWLady.
-
I received my my ATC from Far North. It is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait for you all to see it. The flower has such beautiful shading on the flowers and on the leaves.
-
Yes, I did come up with something I like a lot better, so I will be getting that one in the envelope and having it out in the mail to Far North on time.
-
Thanks for the compliments Ann! I just posted my ATC in the gallery. It is a little blurring cause I was trying to keep the photo at ATC size. I think they don't look the same when increased in size...but guess the gallery settings rule.
Here is my link. (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1680&message_id=42749f1f5ff5e69ce8ccb540867b4960&mess)
Thanks for looking!
Jan
PS Heidi-glad you achieved an ATC that you are happy with! I will wait a few days before seriously looking for it in my mailboxl! Thanks for the update!
-
Melissa, your ATC is on it's way!
-
Daniel I got your ATC in the mailbox! Sorry about getting it out late. :-\
Thanks Cindi for letting me know!
-
I got my ATC from Sarah today. it is too too cute!
-
I received my ATC from CarefreeSadie today. Quick mail!
It is so cute! And beautiful card it arrived in!
-
I'm glad you like it, SWLady.
Here's my June ATC (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1690&message_id=7907fb5ca4e76bb7f2cbe2915d0d64de&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)
So I had a duh moment when I saw Jan's ATC in the gallery. I misread the tutorial and thought you were supposed to heat emboss the image, not heat set the image. So I used white embossing powder. I think I would have gotten brighter colors if I used permanent markers like Daniel did instead of colored pencils. :o ::)
-
I got a fun ATC in the mail from Ann today! Very cute and frog tastic, Ann! I love it:-)
I'm off to check on the latest entries O0
-
Here (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=1697#top_display_media) is the ATC I made and sent to Yankee. Thank you for looking.
-
I received Cindi's ATC---It is so pretty Cindi, thank you!
-
Glad you liked it Melissa!
Here's the ATC I mailed : Posies (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=1704#top_display_media)
I don't think I've ever used the Black Magic technique before, or at least I can't remember! I enjoyed it.
-
Melissa's ATC arrived today. It's terrific! Thank you!
Cindi also sent me a copy of the ATC she did. Neato!
-
I received 2 fabulous ATCs from LeighAnn yesterday. I have no idea why it took a week to get to me since LeighAnn is only 2 states away, when it took only 3 days for the ATC I mailed to SWLady to get all the way to her. Crazy.
And I love the card, too.
-
You're welcome Daniel! When I was drawing the feathers, etc onto to lady's hats, I thought of you Daniel and how you designed and sewed garments etc for theater.
Here's the ATC I sent Daniel: June ATC (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1709&message_id=6d626850d75d631f54d3988359f96ba3&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)
Fun technique!
-
Here is my Frog Black Magic ATC that I made and sent to Lovepug. I see where I need to clean my scanning glass and/or brush off the card.

Somehow I completely missed Sadie's post that she received my ATC. I was wondering why it was taking so long, LOL! Here it is:
Black Magic Floral (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1713&message_id=46daa90b9b3601dbcf57f12aeda09bec&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)
And Sarah, I love the card you sent mine it. Thanks again!
-
Sarah, I was beginning to wonder! My parents are 2 hours away and I'mI've mailed stuff to them that they will sometimes get a day later, other times 3 days later. I don't get it! Im glad they arrived safely!
Everyone's ATCs have been wonderful! I really enjoyed this technique. Hard to believe it's almost time to start up next months swap!
Here's the 2 I sent to Sarah.

Maybe my ATC is the only one that has not arrived yet? I did send at the last possible moment and it had far (far!!!!) to go so I understand it is not there yet. A great set of ATCs this month!
-
Heidi, sorry your ATC hasn't arrived here yet. Generally the mail is in the post boxes in the morning but I only had a couple advertisements yesterday. So I hope it is there today...I will be sure to post when it arrives!...Jan
-
Sadie you asked if this was one stamp or several for my ATC this month and it as one stamp: quality and variety stamp (http://heroarts.com/products/productInfo.cfm?ItemNo=CG190&subCat=D03)
I love this stamp but I never know how/what to use it for, but I had to get it when it came out---it reminded me the old almanacs I would check out (or school had many for some reason) so I could look at the advertisements---I love how detailed they were! This stamp is not nearly as detailed as those ads, but it reminds me of them just the same.

Thanks yellow for answering that question. I really like that stamp too. And you are right it does look like an old timey ad. LOL
-
Heidi I just got back from picking up your ATC. OH My it is stunning! Hope you can post it soon.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful beauty!....Jan
-
I used my Derwent Metallic Watersoluble pencils for this technique, and I felt a little bad about it, because I am pretty sure these would have shown up well on dark cardstock anyhow. But I did get some nice highlights of the white showing up around the edge of the image. I do think that the watersoluble pencils are really nice and soft and work well for the technique.

Jan, I am glad you liked it! I thought about adding some white stamping to the bottom like your atc, but decided against it. ;)
-
All of the ATCs this month have been fabulous.
-
I agree Sarah! This has been a wonderful set of ATCs!
