Wow LeighAnn these dates work out wonderfully for me...surprising since the rest of the month is filled with house guests. But the deadline is perfect for the a break between guests. So while I won't be here much between now and then mine will definitely be in the mail on the 25th.
Thanks for the fun challenge!
-
I will sign up. I also find the later date this month to work out well. If it were earlier I would have had to pass. Interesting challenge!
-
B&W w Kraft? Sounds intriguing, Pug. Think I'd like to join in this month. TY for an interesting challenge/swap.
-
I will join. Maybe this will get me motivated. Thanks for the late challenge.
-
Time frame works for me, please sign me up.
-
I'd like to participate this time.
Thank you.

I'm done with wedding crafting so I'd like to play too!
-
I posted partners in the opening post!
Looking forward to seeing how you all will work the color combo!
I noticed yesterday that I had 3 different shades of Kraft paper. I didn't realize how different they all are. One is the desert storm that is from Neenah. It's the lightest. It's okay, I got this in a kit and I doubt I will ever purchase it by itself.
Then there's one from cooredinations. It's kind of a yellow based tone and the paper itself is really thin. I do not like it, I bought a small pack of it once when I was out of Kraft paper and it's the only kind they had at JoAnns.
And my favorite brand I have and have used for a few years is the recollections brand. The paper is a nice weight, it's really smooth and the color is the darkest of the three I have.
I think Hero Arts also has a Kraft card stock but I haven't tried it yet. Anyone else have a favorite?
-
Thanks for organzing, LeighAnn. I need to go and check if I have Yankee's address still. I had everyone's so organmized and then last month I needed to send some things out and realized I couldn't find my list! Will look in my PM box.
The recollections Kraft cardstock was the nicest. HOWEVER, when I went to purchase some more, they had changed it. It was slightly darker and thinner. Gina K also makes a very nice Kraft. I will need to look and see if I have any other kraft paper. Would grunge paper count as kraft? I guess not if it is more grey.
-
Got my send to, Pug. I'll also PM Ann with an address to send mine to.
I made 3 so far & used 'Kraft' as a color rather than a particular paper. Fun challenge. :smitten:
-
Okay I cleaned off a usable space on my craft desk and I have the three color papers on my desk and waiting for inspiration. This will be a masculine card as my swap partner is Looser. Putting on my thinking cap.
-
You won't believe this, but mine are done! Yeah! Well, I still have to print out and attach the labels to the back, but that's all.
I used Stampin' Up Kraft cardstock. The Paper Source makes a cardstock they call Kraft that I love for dry embossing and matting, but it's thinner and much darker than what I have always considered the color kraft. I have one sample sheet of the Neenah Desert Storm, and it's just a bit lighter than the SU kraft.
Daria
-
Mine are done, too. I mailed 2 of them to my swapmate Cindi (Iring) & the remaining two went to other Inksters.
As I shared, I used 'Kraft' as a color rather than using a kraft paper.
Off to set up a 'challenge'.
-
It sounds like people are making good progress on their ATC's. I have mine mostly done, it is sitting and I will go back to it in a while to see if I think it needs any addtional touches.
Daniel, I have a couple colors of kraft color ink too. I didn't end up going in that direction but it is nice that you mentioned it.
As for other kraft cardstocks, I was going to look at Michaels at the loose paper available and see if they have any colors with that.
-
Today I sent and received ATCs! Yippee!
I mailed my ATC to Ann and came home to find two too cool ATCs from Daniel! The embossing/debossing details are fantastic! Daniel sent a cardstock ATC which is neat in the way he stamped the image and then cut around it to form a one piece ATC ... you'll just have to see it.
And, I'm the happy holder of a metal worked ATC where the embossing really shines!
Daniel, are you able to photograph and upload or would you like me to do all or part of the process? I can email you a digital photo that you can upload to the gallery, or I can upload for you. Let me know what's best for you.
Thank you so much for the awesome ATCs! PS the backgrounds are just as cool and perfect for the images.
-
I found I have Yankee's address in my PMs here. I am going to send out my ATC today. I did not find anything I wanted to add to it.
Also, at first I thought that this was an odd color combo, but as I worked with it, I found I think it is a really good combo for any wedding cards, or general cards that could be for men or women. I really like it!
-
Well, heck. You guys beat me to the mailbox. I was done. I even put on the labels, carefully typed--very professional. The only problem was the word "khaki." It didn't look right to me. Well, it did look right, but something seemed wrong. After they were all attached to the ATCs, I double-checked the spelling on the package. Whoops. I had to white out the word and write in the word "kraft."
I'm going to go take a picture right now so I can get one in the mail today.

I don't understand the kraft cardstock vs kraft as a color distinction. I always thought it was cardstock that was the kraft color (sort of the color of paper bag).

Daria
I don't think it is a big deal, and I agree that kraft definitely seems to come from the brown paper that must have been then used for crafts (why the k?). But there are at least a couple ink manufacturers who have kraft colored ink on the market.
NEVER MIND! kraft is a process, and I guess using kraft paper for crafts is just coincidence!

I don't understand the kraft cardstock vs kraft as a color distinction.
Daria, I think in this case it's just how Daniel chose to interpret the challenge. He didn't use kraft cardstock, but he did use a kraft colored ink.
-
Heidi, I also went to Wikipedia. lol. I didn't know that there were ink pads named kraft. I wonder what they look like. I think the color that Daniel used on his pieces work perfectly for kraft.
Daniel, your ATCs are very special. I caught my breath when I saw the first one--for me, that was the cardstock version.
Daria
-
Glad you liked the ATCs, Cindi & all. Yes. I chose to interpret 'kraft' as a color, but after reading the Wikipedia piece I see that it is indeed a process for making a particular type of paper--very interesting. And... I see that kraft-process paper can be bleached white so even the idea of Kraft paper being brown is not always true. Who knew? ;D
Far as the K in kraft? I figured it was German--they spell ceramics as 'Keramics', too.
My other 2 ATCs are both craft foam ones, but use the same items as the paper & metal ones.
-
I forgot to check the mail yesterday, I did so this morning and what a surprise! I had one from Yankee and a surprise one from Daniel!
Both are so fantastic and brightened my morning! Thank you both so much!
Daniel I will get a pic and send it to ha so you can share yours O0
As far as the color combo goes, I need to link the card I saw that inspired this challenge. I found it one day on a pinterest but the link was empty. I need to research it, I think it was from prairie paper and ink . It was a Christmas card and I loved how the colors worked together.
Lol, I always thought of "Kraft" as a paper but I looked at some of my inks and I found one that is a dead match for Kraft!
I want to start a separate thread on Kraft card stock comparisons. I was working on a card for Stampwillys oldies challenge and was surprised at how each paper works differently with the technique in her challenge.
I finally got stamps yesterday, I went out on Wednesday to do errands and forgot them. So Jans's will go out today!
-
I mailed mine on Thursday morning.
LeighAnn, which of your inks is a match for kraft?
Daria
-
I also got a surprise ATC from Daniel and I photo'd and uploaded it into the gallery now.
-
I put my ATC in gallery. It is not as wonderful as Daniels, but as he likes to remind me, we are not competing here. Anyway it is just plain stamping and embossing. I love this little dog, he makes me smile. Reminds me of the Dick and Jane books. I have done him several times in browns and this is the first time in white, still cute.
I did stencil the circles behind him in black ink and the paper makes it look like brown ink. Some of the different Kraft papers do strange stuff.
-
Yankee,
Yes! That must be what appealed to me so much about your ATC ;), the Dick and Jane connection! That really is a cute dog image and I love the spots and spot saying with it.
-
My ATC from Daria arrived today! Thank you and I hope you will be able to share it in the gallery soon!
-
I received ATC from Iring over the week end. I love the details of her stamped image. Know you all will like it.
-
That was pretty quick, Ann.
You can see my sketch flower ATC here. (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=1905#top_display_media)

I was able to do my test trails for the required color combo and color the focal image for my ATC during my travels. Matting and final details were completed today and I put it in the mail to Daria this afternoon. Daria, I hope you receive it before I leave again on Monday...but I know that is very iffy. But no worries I will not be gone long and will make my gallery post when I return.
Thanks Leigh Ann for another fun challenge!
Now I'm off to leave some posts in the gallery....Jan

Cindi, your ATC reminded me that last night I actually dreamed about stamping. I dreamed about doing some project where I used white pigment ink and clear embossed it. Honestly, in real life, I have never done that. SO WEIRD! I don't ever remember dreaming about stamping before! lol! I think I would have forgotten about it if I had not seen your ATC early this morning...
The ATC's with this combo are so nice! I really like this!
-
I received Heidi's ATC today, I really like it.
Can you post it Heidi for everyone else to enjoy.
-
I got Utah Ann's ATC today. It's great! And she put it in a little folder which is too cute!
Thanks Ann. Please share it with our fellow Inksters.
-
LeighAnn uploaded the ATC I sent to her & I provided a bit of info about its construction. She sent me a PM & shared that--at first--she thought I might have used a smaller version of the clown stamp, but then remembered how heat-shrinking works on craft foam.
BTW? Pug says she got a head cold from one of the kiddos. No fun, I'm sure.
Craft Foam ATC (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1901)
One of the nice things about craft foam is that when you stamp it & fussy cut before heat shrinking is that it greatly minimizes any iffy cutting. Often makes it look like you are a brilliant artist with your scissors. ;) I really liked the way the black lines added to the stenciled BG give the illusion of depth to that part. Unlike the ATC I sent Heidi, this one was easier to keep 'straight' when assembling, but I like the way both of the foam ones turned out.
I too think that this month's ATCs were all wonderful--interesting, clever & full of neat techniques. WTG to all of us who played! O0

I posted my ATC in the gallery.

Here is the ATC that I sent to Daniel:

I typed a previous message a few minutes ago and now I can't find it - must have gone to the ghost ship that is on the ATC I made for Daniel. Who knows where it went.
But here is the description. I used the kraft paper for the background, then used a Hero Arts fame stamp and stamped that in black. I think I said in the description in the gallery that I stamped with Pigment Ink, but now I think I remember that I used white detail embossing powder and heated that. When I added the picture to the gallerly, I saw some little white flakes that are not suppose to be there. I even used a brush to pick up the little flake.......... so they must be ghost flakes.
I really enjoy making masculine cards so alwalys enjoy when partnered with Daniel.
Great challenge. Thank you.

I've posted my ATCs (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1913&message_id=5a69890ef7941fca7acc780db5da1d3c&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock) in the gallery.

Now that Daria has shared her ATC, I can say how big of a smile I got when I opened the ATC from her. Like she states, we were definitely on the same wavelength when we created our ATCs. They are quite similar, though I do appreciate how she added some nice sponging on her ATC which did not cross my mind. It appears to have a nice fog to the scene, imo.
-
I just got home from the Post Office and am pleased to say I received some wonderful happy mail! LeighAnn sent a most elegant beauty. Can't wait til she shares in the gallery cause she has a technique no one else has used for this challenge yet.
-
This color combo challenge inspired beautiful results!
I dreamed about doing some project where I used white pigment ink and clear embossed it.
Heidi, I think your dream is telling you, you need to try this! I like doing it that way, because otherwise I seem to end up with white flecks of EP where I don't want them! Clear EP is safer!
Daria, I meant to comment about it and forgot, but your sponging is so nice and subtle and even.
-
Sorry I've been MIA. Little ds caught a cold and it of course spread to ods and then me. Hopefully DH can keep from getting it! I thought it was gonna be short lived but now I've got a tickle in my throat and an annoying cough that won't quit! Summer colds are the worst.
I spent some time catching up on the latest ATCs. I'm blown away by how you all took off with this color challenge! I love each and every ATC. So unique!
Daria, to answer your question on the ink- I have one from Simon Says stamp called khaki. It looks very similar to the color of Kraft cardstock.
The other is wet cement by hero arts. It's a bit light but it looks really nice stamped on Kraft. A very subtle tone on tone look.
I did do a search and found that MFT has an actual color called Kraft.
I really like working with this color combo and plan to make some cards with it. Anyone else?
I also saw a card in a similar color combo of white, Kraft and navy. Very pretty!
Here's the ATC I sent Jan. I've been trying to make it a point to use my EF more!

LeighAnn, I love your ATC.
Today I received two ATC's from Jan. They are so beautiful! Wait until you see what she made with minimal supplies while traveling.
Jan, thank you!
Daria

I think Hero Arts Soft Sand is close to kraft. My Avery Elle inks have a kraft color and I know Gina K has one with the same name too. I don't think I ever answered about the inks before.
-
Daria, thanks for letting me know your ATCs arrived. It is so timely since I will be leaving soon for Denali National Park with my second wave of company. So I am happy to share my details before I leave.
Below I posted the stamps I used for this challenge (click on to enlarge) and. Unfortunately I believe both are discontinued. Here is the gallery link. (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1929&message_id=a85ead439939843720174d8e494ddb2a&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)
Thanks for looking!...Jan

Jan, I'm glad you posted these with the details. I was getting ready to go look for a ATC-size Postage Stamp die. As you already know, I love these ATC's. Thank you.
BTW, in case anyone is interested, Magenta (http://www.magentastyle.com/p/welcome-to-magenta-catalog-section-here.html) never retires an image. Of course, it helps if you know what you're looking for; it would take forever to browse through all their online catalogs.
Here you will find our newest and oldest catalogs! That's part of the Magenta Magic, all our vintage stamps designs are never discontinued and still available for purchase!
The SU Chinese Peony can be found on e-Bay; it's one of four stamps in the Oriental Gardens Set.

Daria, I did not know that Magenta never retired images. Thanks for the info!

Daria-the Magenta stamp has the number 14568.0 on it but searches for that on the site pulls up several stamps but not this one. ...Jan
