Challenge: Make a Post Card (7/10 - 7/24)

(1/9) > >>

howdyheidi:
The challenge is to make a mailable one layer post card.  You must photograph both sides and post them either in the gallery with a link here or directly in this thread.

You must use stamping on your project but you may write or draw on the "mailing" side or print it out if you do not have a stamp that will work.
You may combine with other challenges.
Your project must be new.
You may use a mat to make your project more sturdy, but the project may not be more than 3 layers of cardstock and it must be flat and not dimensional.

I haven't made mine yet.  Search pinterest for ideas or on this blog: http://heroarts.com/blogs/club/2014/07/10/missing-you-libby/

Please ask any questions and chat away here!  I hope you will give it a try!

Heidi. Is there a 'standard size' for mailable postcards?

howdyheidi:
Good question.  According to the US Mail site, it is 3.5 by 5 inches.  The below characteristics are for post card stamp rates.  Apparently, according to the link below, you can go outside those a bit for a letter stamp rate (or more).  I think this is a good starting size.

--- Quote ---Rectangular
At least 3-1/2 inches high x 5 inches long x 0.007 inch thick
No more than 4-1/4 inches high x 6 inches long x 0.016 inches thick

--- End quote ---

Hooray!!! My beloved index cards will work! I'm off to play! #>

Looser:
Watch your mailbox, Heidi! I made a postcard from my 'edge' & I'm putting it in the mail tomorrow.

Yeah, I know Heidi isn't requiring us to actually mail our postcards, but since I need to do it anyway, I've decided to go for it directly.

I had a ball with this, Heidi! Big TY for another fun challenge! O0
