April how did you get the glitter to stick (and stay) on the wooden pieces?

Sarah your ATC is on it's way!!  the 16th of Feb just came at me from nowhere!!   :o

I had trouble with this technique.....I always have a way of turning the easiest techniques into hard... :-\ ::)  But I finally got a result I liked....figured out that using watercolor paper---even the cheapo kind works--- better than regular CS.   I ended up using my cheap watercolor paper (really flat watercolor paper---got it from Target so many years ago in school supplies), b/c I got the best results on it (even compared to my watercolor paper from Micheals; but I'm going to try again with that paper sometime).

I think what hung me up---which is why I have trouble with the watercolor technique too---is the spray of water.  If I didn't spray enough, then the droplets left from the ink pad were seen and there was no blending....if I sprayed too much then the colors really blended into the color 'mud' or green despite neither was used.  I also think maybe how I was taking the paper off the block also played a part---best result for me was lifting the block off the paper, rather than lifting the paper off the block.

Thank you LeighAnn though for hosting and for a great learning experience as I haven't done this technique before!

Melissa, I think this technique and a lot of watercolor ones are just trial and error for amount of water.  Even though I have done it a lot of times, I often do not get the desired result the first time.  I agree it is much easier with watercolor paper.  It just is much more forgiving.

Melissa - no worries.  I look forward to seeing what you made.

It took me a few attempts before I got one that I really liked.  I agree with Heidi that this type of technique involves a lot of trial and error.

Good to know that this technique is a trial and error one---when I watched the video that LeighAnn linked, she made it look so easy to me!   But I have re-watched it and notice that she does smear the ink pads on there really well over and over the area (as well as kinda twists them too) and also adds lots of water--more than I originally thought she added.  But I also didn't notice until now, that she turns the block over onto the paper and then can see thru the block to see the colors blend---which is something that cannot be seen when I put the paper over the block instead of the block over the paper.
