Stencil Surprise
For this challenge there will be the use of a stencil but not as a stencil but rather as inspiration. I was looking online at stencils one day and saw this stencil from The Crafters Workshop that I thought was really neat. So instead of buying the stencil I decided to try using my stamps and a couple stencils to recreate this particular stencil.
And so that is the challenge….to use this stencil as a pattern on a card, a tag, or a scrapbooking page. You can use other stencils, stamps, or draw in parts but the challenge is to recreate this stencil on a card without actually using this stencil. If you do not have an arrow stamp then use something that is about the same shape and size to go in that area, ect.
You can use a plain white piece of card stock, a patterned piece of cardstock, or a painted or inked cardstock for the background. You can use ink, paint, markers, or any other medium to stamp or draw to complete this challenge.
You can combine this challenge with any other challenge if the other challenge allows combining.
Here is a sample card I made.

Six other samples, each done differently but the same. (http://www.duhnproductions.com/MainWeb2/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=23:auto-generate-from-title&catid=14&Itemid=119)
Good luck! And don't forget to have fun. I had a lot of fun doing this challenge.
Please use WF15StencilSurprise as the first keyword when you post your projects for this challenge in the gallery. Thank you!

What a fun idea, Sadie! I'm looking forward to playing along O0
-
Oh, wow. This is going to be a tough one.
-
This will definitely be a challenge, but a good one!! O0
-
This is a very novel idea for a challenge, I like it! I will really have to put my thinking cap on for this one! Thanks for hosting!
-
So cool Sadie! Reminds me of doing card sketches but I like that we are to try to match the stencil more closely....I really like this idea!
-
Sadie, all your samples are wonderful (and worth the wait to get them to open)!!! I am going to start setting possible stamps etc in a box like we did for the 2 Pea moodboards so by the end of the week I will have lots of things to work with. Thanks for the fun challenge!
-
This looks like so much fun! I love your samples. Thanks so much for sharing them. Can't wait to start!
-
Well, I made quite a mess, but this really was fun! Thank you so much for this really unique challenge!
I recommend you make a few backgrounds because once you have your stamps and stencils out, you're going to want to make more!

Great job, Cindi!
Sadie, I missed the link of all your other projects! You were busy! I especially like the Easter one!
-
Cute card, Iring! I agree this would be a good idea to make several backgrounds at once. What a fun idea for a card set!
I have my stamps picked out for this one, I will be working on it today O0
-
This is on my to do list for today.
-
Oh my gosh, what a wonderful card Iring! I really like how well the background pink/purple color matches your matt. Wonderful use of your stamps. And I agree with making more then one background because after doing one I just wanted to keep going. LOL!
Thank you for doing my challenge!
-
I just lucked out that I found a card base that matched my distress paint and pink pigment ink so well! Love when that happens!
I had so much fun with this Sadie! This time I tried to stamp more images with colored ink. Stampin Up makes a set called "Work of Art" that has what I thought was the perfect sentiment for the inside of my card. It says "You are a fabulous work of art".

Thanks again for the challenge Sadie!
-
Iring the second card is just as fun as the first one was. The stamps all go together and the EP is a fun surprise. Thank you so much for joining in on this challenge.
-
Cindi - both of your cards are amazing.
I've got mine finished and I photoed it, but the photo came out meh. I'm going to try retaking the photo tomorrow. I did have a lot of fun making it.

Here is my entry. I used a previously made background, used 6 stamps and doodling to make the "stencil." The butterfly was cut using my eclips2. Thanks for the fun challenge! I love the other entries too!

Stampwilly that turned out wonderfully. I like it a lot. Thank you for playing along with this challenge. I hope you had fun doing this card. Thanks again.

Here is my project---though I supposeI could mail it b/c I finally did get it cut down to roughly 5x7 (I was trying to give myself room, but maybe should had taken into account the size of a card, lol):
stencil challenge (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?pid=1147&message_id=9f5d8a95132e73f0e0d9b81a4d821619&message_icon=info#cpgMessageBlock)
I really though that this would take longer than it did; I gathered stamps yesterday and ideas, and then I was juts going to do the BG and after lunch before I knew it, it was done! I had lots of fun with this challegne Sadie-----I really liked this idea of copying a stencil (so that serves as the structure, "to-do" item of the challenge) but then you were free to fill in the BG and use things to copy it (which helps me practice "being free"). Thank you!
-
Way to go Yellow! I didn't think it took much time to do either. I pulled stamps out as I went along for the first one and then left some out for the second, ect. I thought it was fun to do, so I am glad you had fun too. Thank you for joining this challenge.
-
I still don't love the photo, but this one came out much better.

I had a lot of fun doing this. And I agree with Cindi, I want to make more.

I like your card too Craft Nerd. The colors, the stamps, and the different mediums you used are all wonderful. Thank you for joining this challenge. I am glad you had fun playing along.

Oh Connie, your card turned out neat too. I like the different colors you used, and the stamps. Thank you for joining in and I hope you had fun doing it.
-
Yes it was way out of my comfort zone but that is what a challenge is right ! I enjoyed the whole week, Our church was redoing our sanctuary this week and so I had to take a couple days off to do that but I was happy that I didn't have alot of other commitments so I could play along

The gallery is locked so I can not post there. We agreed during Inktoberfest planning that folks in PST and Alaska Standard Time would have allowances made so all had until midnight to post and be included in challenges. I have seen nothing describing this event to be different. I hopeful my card can still be placed in the gallery as an official entry. I also would still like to be included in the drawing!
WF15 Surprise Stencil; WF15 Color My World
This was such a fun challenge! I used the stencil layout to create my own collage version. I created several backgrounds to determine what would work best. The chick stamp is from Red Rubber stamps and is covered with 2 colors of flocking one with glitter. The grasshopper is by Stampendous and the numbers stamp is by Tim Holtz as well as the dotted fade stencil behind the chick. Please ask if you want to know the company for any other stamp.
To create the collage I used distress stains and inks , Wendy Vecchi archival inks, wink of stella, embossing powder, Viva Pearl ice white to paint the feathers and of course the flocking.
Key Words: Spring; collage; watercolor; stencils
One of my favorite challenges!

Your project is wonderful. I am sorry you had problems with the gallery but it is not locked, the Winterfest 2015 album is not locked. If you cannot upload to the gallery, sign out of the forum, go to the gallery and make sure you are also signed out of the gallery. Close the gallery window, then sign back into the forum, then go back to the gallery and make sure you are signed in. You should now be able to upload your project.....I hope this helps, sometimes you just need to completely sign out and back in to upload, I am not sure what causes this but it does happen.
You are entered into the drawing for the RAK from the Stencil Surprise Challenge. I assumed that everyone had until this morning to finish up everything so as far as I am concerned you and your wonderful project made it.

Thanks Sadie I will try again. But last night I got a specific message regarding the album being closed...not the usual one that I get when I need to redo the login. But I will try again. Thanks Sadie!

Thanks for this fun challenge Sadie! I printed out the stencil image you gave us and pinned it to a bulletin board for continued inspiration. This is something I'd like to try again.
