Title: INK19 Baby It's Cold Outside *** We have a winner ***
Post by: Iring on October 26, 2019, 10:07:06 AM
Baby it’s cold outside!

My challenge is for you to try some techniques for creating the look of snow and ice.

Challenge : Create a winter card featuring snow and/or ice.  It doesn’t have to be a holiday card.
In fact if you don’t want to create a card at all, you can stamp on anything, an ornament, tag, wall hanging … just create a frosty scene and tell us how you did it!

Use the tag INK19Cold in your description and key word when you post in the Inktoberfest Gallery and be sure to link up here.

I will link a few videos to give you some techniques to try, but feel free to use and share any technique you like.

Combining this challenge with other challenges allowing combos is allowed.

By the way : This month's Christmas All Year challenge is the letter I.  If you make a Christmas card, please link to that challenge as well!

Videos for inspiration :

Using Markers

Using Masks and Inks

Have fun!
If you have another technique to share, please do!

ETA : I added two sample cards (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=4650#top_display_media) to the gallery.

Can’t wait to see what people use for this one. I just watched one video so far, the Frugal Crafter one. She really threw the whole kitchen sink into her card!

Thank you for hosting, Cindi!

I spent the day at my daughters with her craft group.  I made ATCs and turned one into a card for grandsons.
It is suppose to look like an old fashion tree lot.  I made the snow different then I ever had.  I realized I needed white somewhere other then the front tree.  I couldn’t find a snow stamp or  stencil.
So I used a VersaMarker pen that has two tips, I used both, just taped the tip to cardstock.  Then added white embossing.
I have never done it that way and it looks good!

Haha!  Yes, she did go wild at the end with texture paste and glitter!  Hopefully the paste holds the glitter well.

I've been pretty bad about not making sample cards for my challenges lately.  Today I forced myself to do my own challenge first!

I've always loved Jolly the snowman, from Purple Onion Designs.  This summer they had a sale and I treated myself.  I've had the Pearlescent Embossing paste for a year or two and decided it was time to make it snow!

I didn't have a stencil so I made one using a die.  There are lots of ways to make snow, with or without fancy products.  I hope you'll give one a try.

April, your card is adorable!  You have all the snow and ice covered!  An icy reflection, snow in the sky and the perfect snowflake embellishment.  I'm glad you had fun.  Thanks for playing!

I used my new Bo Bunny Sugar Glitter paste and I never did get around to watching the other videos (i still will!) so I used the Frugal Crafter one for my inspiration.  I like how this card turned out.  The glitter paste is really fun to work with, and when it dries the glitter does stay put. I just checked by rubbing pretty hard on the snow and it seems to be stuck!

Wow, thanks Cindi for the challenge with encouragement to try out some of our products. Lots of fun with this one.  I am trying to work with my older products as an alternative to just buying new products..Also thanks to Lindsey for the kitchen sink look!

Thank you for all the snow fall, and for explaining your process.  (It's still close to 80 here in FL!)

Heidi, good to know that glitter paste stays put!

Jan, I'm glad you got to play with lots of your supplies.  You certainly created a snowy scene with no new products required.

Connie, the videos were just for inspiration or technique ideas if you needed them.  No worries.  I love the glitter lines on your card that indicate snow.

Tomorrow I will put the names of all participants in a bowl, mix them around, hold them over my head and draw a name for a RAK.
