Title: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 16, 2016, 09:31:02 AM
Here's how you play - I'll post the starting question, which is a yes or no question.  If your answer is no, say go fish.  If your answer is yes, post a new yes or no question.

Starting question:

Have you bought any new stamps in the last 6 months?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 16, 2016, 10:05:10 AM
Oh, I like this game!

YES, I have bought plenty of stamps in the last 6 months, including the AI Fright Night I mentioned in the other thread, Stampendous Spring short stacks, a Gina K stamptv kit and some Just for Fun stamps before I was on the DT I bought several I liked.

Okay, new question...

Do you have more than 5 uninked stamps in your stash?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 16, 2016, 10:22:36 AM
Well, duh YES.  LOL-I know I am a bad stamper but it seems I always have some set that I never use every stamp.  But I have a couple brand new Penny Black sets that I am actually planning to use for Inktober...perhaps with a Polished Stone background ;D.

New question: Have you used a stencil in the last 6 months?

PS:  Thanks Sarah for the fun game.

I don't think so, but I can't remember.  :D  So I'm going to go with GO FISH.
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 16, 2016, 12:20:25 PM
I'm going to have to say GO FISH also.  I thought I had, but I looked through pictures and I couldn't find any where I used stencils.  Hmmm, and I just bought another not too long ago.
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 16, 2016, 12:49:27 PM
Yes, I have definitely used stencils!

NEW question:
Have you made a card for a specific person recently? (I almost never do this! But I did make one for my niece last week as I often don't have a good one for the littles.)
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: stampwilly on October 16, 2016, 12:56:12 PM
I used a new leaf stencil last week and used my spray machine and markers on it. I have not made them into cards yet. I used a stencil background I made on one of my Christmas cards for the Christmas All Year challenge a few months ago.

Do you own any of the electronic cutting machines like the cricut, eclips, silhouette etc.  if so how often do you use it?

April

Post by: Craft Nerd on October 16, 2016, 01:31:39 PM
Uh, oh, we have 2 questions, but I can answer yes to both.

Most of my birthday cards are person specific and many of my Christmas cards are as well.

I have a silhouette and I've been trying to use it more but it is currently sitting in the laundry room unplugged.  I moved it for the hurricane and haven't moved it back yet.

New question:
Do you make Halloween cards?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Conniecrafter on October 16, 2016, 03:49:34 PM
I usually made one card for Halloween and I sent it to my daughter while she was in college and then after she was married just to stay in touch but this year she is so close by (40 minute drive) that I don't know if I will make one this year or not.

Question :  Did you have any formal art training or classes prior to making cards?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Yankee on October 16, 2016, 04:18:52 PM
No, I started collecting balloon stamps.  My husband said (in a mean voice ) what are going to do with all of those!
My reply was a guess I could make cards!

How many foiled cards have you made?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 16, 2016, 05:01:08 PM
Nope.  Go Fish.
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 16, 2016, 05:20:36 PM
Yes, I have made a couple foiled cards, but not a lot. I bought a couple kits from Gina K that included cardstock sheets printed with a design that was foilable, there were sheets of sentiments too.  My issue is that I keep my laminator upstairs in a closet and I craft downstairs so it is hard to get out.  Maybe I should move it to the down stairs closet.

New question:
Do you buy your white cardstock by the ream?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 16, 2016, 07:19:49 PM
I sure do.  I use Georgia Pacific. Although I use X-Press when I'm using my Copics.

New Question:
Did you do Far North's warm-up challenge?

Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: stampwilly on October 17, 2016, 09:22:15 AM
Yes, I did Jan's warm up challenge and made 4 backgrounds. I intend to use some soon!

April

Do you do other crafting besides stamping?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 17, 2016, 09:28:00 AM
At this time, I do not, so I would say, GO FISH!
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 17, 2016, 10:29:37 AM
Yes, I still do a few other crafts but nothing close to the time I spend stamping. I am still trying to use my stash of basket-making materials.  And I regularly make books with the book making guild.

New question: Have you used embossing paste, texture paste, or modeling paste with a stencil?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 17, 2016, 03:20:19 PM
I sure have.

New Question:

Have you ever used sewing on a card?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: stampwilly on October 17, 2016, 05:15:56 PM
No. Go Fish!  I do not like any sewing! LOL!

April
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Yankee on October 17, 2016, 08:22:05 PM
Yes I have sewed on a card, in fact I made a set of sewed cards for my daughters birthday.
Yes I use almost everything through my stenils, love it.  And I don't make the pastes smooth and even. Boring!

Do any of you make a card with no stamping inside and no stamping outside?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 17, 2016, 09:50:53 PM
Rarely, I searched my card folder and found a Thank You card I cut on my Silhouette that I left blank inside.

Do you stamp and send Anniversary cards?  Who do you send them to?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 17, 2016, 10:55:39 PM
Go fish!
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 18, 2016, 07:57:18 AM
I have stamped some Anniversary cards, usually I will make one for DH and sometimes for family members.  Such as this year I made one for my grandparent's 70th.  This is the one I gave them: http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastupby&cat=0&pid=2696&uid=521#top_display_media

New question:
Have you done a blog hop in the last 6 months?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: stampwilly on October 18, 2016, 09:05:59 AM
Yes, I do them all the time! I usually do the ODBD, Sparkle N Sprinkle, and a few others here and there! I just won all the stamp sets for the month of Sept. at Sparkle N Sprinkle for just leaving a comment!

Heidi, I kept getting an error when trying to look at your anniversary card. :-\

April

Do you use punches?

Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 18, 2016, 09:54:38 AM
Yes, I still use punches but not as often as I used them prior to buying a few more dies.

April--congrats on the win!

Next question-do you use an ATG gun?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 18, 2016, 10:14:44 AM
(Congrats, April, that is a big win!)

Nope, go fish!

Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 18, 2016, 10:30:59 AM
Yep, I love it.

Next question:  Do you use stickers on your cards?

(Congrats, April, that's awesome!)
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish

Go fish!
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 18, 2016, 08:21:29 PM
I can't remember the last time I used a sticker on a card ... so I guess that's a Go Fish.
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 18, 2016, 09:38:06 PM
I can't think of a time I used stickers either, so Go FISH!!!
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: stampwilly on October 18, 2016, 10:06:03 PM
I have used stickers on my cards but it has been a long time. I used the outline stickers on glitter paper I made and colored inside the sticker. A neat technique, but I would rather use my stamps!

April

Do you clean up your work area after each project you make?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 19, 2016, 01:03:56 PM
Go-o-o Fish!
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 19, 2016, 04:33:05 PM
Go Fish!!!  It's a small miracle if I clean up my desk at the end of the weekend, forget after each project.
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 19, 2016, 06:28:34 PM
Yes, more often than not, I do clean up after every project.  (I didn't always do that.)

Do you make a card a week (or more) on average?........
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 19, 2016, 07:07:43 PM
Go Fish!
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 20, 2016, 10:42:46 AM
Yes,  I didn't think I could answer yes this year but when I estimate between 30-40 Christmas cards then birthdays plus other occasions it would definitely average to more than one a week.  And Cindi did you already forget you just put nearly 100 wedding invitations in the mail  ;D

New Question--In the last 6 months have you packed-up some paper crafting supplies to use them beyond your home?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: stampwilly on October 20, 2016, 12:42:06 PM
Oh yes, many times! Have gone to the scrapbook store to stamp with friends about once a month, to my Stamping Divas club once a month and to some of my stamping friends' homes! I am so blessed! ;D

April

Do you own any alcohol markers?

:idiot2:  Haha!  Yes, that definitely averages out ... and I did stamp a medallion to cover the seam in the belly bands, and I stamped our return address, ha!  The rest was printing and cutting and gluing.

Yes, I have alcohol based markers, but not Copics.  I have a 36 pen set of Bic Mark Its.

Do you use a Scraprack or any other Totally-Tiffany organization tools?  Which tool? What do you store in it?

Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish

Go Fish!
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 20, 2016, 02:01:33 PM
I have a Totally-Tiffany die organizer.  It has a plastic case with a fold over closure.  Contains 6 open top pocket files each with a organized pocket sheet. The sheet is sewn lengthwise creating 6 pockets 1/2 x 11". Once dies are inserted I find the slightest titling of the case causes the dies to slide around and often out of their location.  If anyone has a better thought for using this organizer please PM me.

Next question...
Have you used stencils with 4 or more techniques?

Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 20, 2016, 06:52:15 PM
Sponging, monoprinting, embossing, spraying, so YES!

New question:
Do you watch tv while you craft? (And if so, which shows do you watch?)
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 20, 2016, 07:14:54 PM
Sometimes.  And it depends on when I'm crafting.  Last night, I was watching Elementary, but if it is the weekend, I usually pick an older show that I can binge watch.  That way I don't have to get up and put something new on after each show.

New question:
Have you put off doing a chore in order to play during INK 16?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 20, 2016, 07:46:42 PM
At the moment I am ignoring some light snow shoveling that could be done.  I pre-cooked some meals so I only have to heat 'n eat.

Next question...
Do you have 3 or more favorite sparkly products to share?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 20, 2016, 07:50:41 PM
Wow, you're good Jan!

Yes I have 3 sparkly products to share that I've used recently.
1.  Swarovski crystals glued on with GemTac in a Fineline bottle
2.  Wink of Stella
3.  Spectrum Noir sparkle pens

The Spectrum Noir pens really sparkle ... but days later I can wipe my finger across and the shimmer comes off  :-\

Oops.  Forgot to ask a question ...

What is your favorite tool for placing tiny embellishments?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 20, 2016, 11:39:50 PM
Ugh!  I'm losing it!  That was not a yes or no question!
How about this :

Do you ever stand and stamp at your kitchen counter?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 21, 2016, 07:01:35 AM
Yes, I do stand at the kitchen counter to stamp.  Usually it is when I am going to heat emboss since I usually do that on my stovetop (it is a glass top electric stove).

Do you have a stamped card or other project that you meant to give away but you are too attached to it?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 21, 2016, 08:38:20 AM
Yes, I still have several pieces of my work. Generally I don't make pieces until I know who I will give it to.  And I often display my favorite cards that I really like in my work area along with ones I have received.  And from time to time I decide to keep one.

NEXT question:
Is there a technique or product that you choose not to use because it is "messier" than you perfer?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: stampwilly on October 21, 2016, 08:51:17 AM
I don't like working with acrylic paint much - although I did here at INKtoberfest.   I seldom use it because it is messy and it doesn't work well with me.

April

Do you have a pet that likes to be with you while you are crafting?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 21, 2016, 09:09:12 AM
Yes, my 13 year old American Eskimo dog often lays at my side when she is inside.

Do you have a favorite product or technique for card making?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 21, 2016, 11:44:43 AM
Go Fish!

I'm all over the place.  I don't think I can pick a fave.

(Jan, I didn't know you have a dog!)
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 21, 2016, 11:50:27 AM
Yes, I think my favorite is marker thumping.  Techniques like those are why i still like rubber stamps better than clear even though i have both.

Jan, I didn't know you had a dog either.

New question:
Do you sometimes need to send a store bought card?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: stampwilly on October 21, 2016, 03:19:59 PM
Go Fish! Can't bring myself to do that. Plus I usually have a good supply of cards I have made to choose from.

April

Post by: Craft Nerd on October 21, 2016, 05:35:36 PM
Go Fish.  I can't make myself do it either.

And I think that makes 3 of us who didn't realize Jan has a dog.
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 22, 2016, 02:32:08 AM
I have always sent lots of note cards.  Sometimes I use commercial cards when I only know the person through professional associations.

Next Question:  Do you make any papercrafted items beyond cards?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 22, 2016, 09:21:04 AM
Yep.  I've made calendars and post-it note holders and I've started a couple of scrapbooks.

New Questions:
Have you ever made such a mess of your craft space that you could not continue crafting unless you did some clean-up first?

I'll admit, I'm at that point right now.   O0
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: stampwilly on October 22, 2016, 10:55:59 AM
Oh yes, many times! I get frustrated and can't go on unless I clean up and start fresh!

Do you enjoy following card sketches to make your cards?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 22, 2016, 11:34:43 AM
I do enjoy following card sketches most of the time.  Sometimes I feel like I need to make changes in them, though.

New question:
Are you going to finish all the INK16 challenges?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 22, 2016, 12:20:33 PM
Go fish.

Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish

Yes, I have already. Knew I would be busy today and tomorrow so I tried to get mine done before now.

Have you ever used canvas on a card?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Craft Nerd on October 22, 2016, 08:43:06 PM
Go fish.  I've done canvases but I haven't used canvas on a card.
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 22, 2016, 11:30:22 PM
I swore I had stamped on canvas ... I had to go back to Mother's Day 2010 (http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/970121/view/4936979/-1/144/0.html) to find it!  Found it in my old 2peas gallery, now on Scrapbook.com.

Have you stayed up past your bedtime or gotten up early to stamp this past week?

(you can tell by the time of this post, that I have #>)
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 23, 2016, 04:04:08 AM
Yes, sometimes I just can't stop when I am on a roll...like tonight.  Playing with Yupo tonight-thank you!

Next Question: do you  plan for to make Thanksgiving cards this year?

Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 23, 2016, 07:28:29 AM
Yes, I will make some Thanksgiving cards to send to family that we will not see on Thansgiving.

(Cindi, that mother's day card is lovely!)

New question:
Do you sometimes have trouble getting a good cut on intricate dies?

(aside:  I just have a cuttlebug and I have the metal shim plate, but I still have trouble with some dies.  I have often wondered if there is another small machine that would work more consistently.  I think there is a Little Sister one)
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Far North on October 23, 2016, 10:51:07 AM
Yes, some times I have don't get a complete cut.  I too use the metal shim and that helps alot. Usually I just roll it back through another time if it feels like it is rolling firmly.  I add another paper shim if it doesn't roll as firm as other times.  One of the companies sells an "Embosser"-I have not read any reviews.

Do you plan on using vellum on any of your holiday cards?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 23, 2016, 10:56:05 AM
Go Fish!  If I get any cards out after the wedding (Dec. 10th) they will be something quick, most likely a photo card.

Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: howdyheidi on October 23, 2016, 03:23:14 PM
I have used vellum on at least one Christmas card I can think of this year, and I do like using vellum, so I do think I will use more.  So I will say yes to that one.

Did you use any new to you products or stamps during this fest?
Title: Re: Chatty Game - Go Fish
Post by: Iring on October 23, 2016, 07:01:01 PM
Yes!  I used stamps from Tim Holtz Halloween 1 on the card I made for Connie's acetate challenge.

Are you still "festing"?
