Title: Winter Holiday Cards in July Challenge, 2017
Post by: djc on June 30, 2017, 04:32:08 PM
Winter Holiday Cards in July Challenge -- 2017

Some of you have gotten a head start on our holiday cards by participating in Cindi's Christmas All Year! Challenge.  This month, I'm taking over for Cindi by offering our yearly Winter Holiday Cards in July Challenge.  Despite my best intentions, I have not made any Christmas cards this year.  I have an empty folder on my computer waiting for my 2017 Christmas cards.  I figure that if I make one different card each day and make three of that design each day, I will have 93 cards by the end of the month.  LOL.  Come join me for this month’s challenge and make lots of cards.

If you are in the need of inspiration, check out Cindi’s past Christmas All Year threads; she posts an optional theme each month that you can use if it inspires you.  This year they have been related to Christmas carols.

The Challenge:
You have a full month--July 1 through July 31--to post your entries in the album set aside for this challenge in the gallery and link them to this Discussion Thread.  The challenge ends on July 31 at 11:59 pm your time.

Remember you must enter only new cards--nothing you made or posted prior to July 1, the first day of the challenge.  If you have a special technique you'd like to use that does not include stamping, your card will still count.  It would be nice to combine stamping with other techniques, but sometimes that isn't feasible, and I want your cards to be something you will love.  So your paste-embossed, embroidered, stenciled, Iris folded, etc. cards are welcome.

Requirements:
1. Complete the tasks as described in this challenge.

2. When you post your card in the gallery, please label it with the name of the appropriate holiday and add the words "in July." For example, Christmas in July, Hanukkah in July, Kwanzaa in July, etc.

3. When you post your project in the gallery, describe it. Tell how you made it and what you used.  Thanks to Sadie, we have more space in which to describe our posted cards so don’t be stingy with your comments.   Some information that you could share:
Stamps:
Cardstock/Papers:
Card Size:
Inks/Coloring Medium:
Accessories:
Technique:

Next, come back to this Discussion Thread to link your post here and to tell us how it went--the good and the bad.

Combining Challenges:
You can combine this challenge with another challenge as long as the host of the other challenge will also allow it.

Prize:
There will be a prize awarded at the end of the challenge.  Your name will go into the hat once for every card you post in the gallery and link to the discussion thread. OK. I already know that the next question is do I get my name in the hat 10 times if I make 10 of the same card. I'll say you can get your name in the hat up to three times for multiples of the same design. Fair enough? There's no limit to the number of different cards you can post. You'll get credit for each different card.

I hope you'll join us and begin making your December holiday cards.  We can inspire and motivate each other.  Don't forget to have fun!

Thanks for offering this challenge. I often get in the spirit in July and get a lot done.  However, I hope you don't expect us all to get 93 done.  :D ;D :laughhard:

Looking forward to seeing what people create!

Heidi,  my son is coming over tomorrow to visit, take me shopping for a new modem/router (Mine is worthless.), and to play with the cats.  My sister just had a painful medical procedure.  I have a feeling I'm not going to be able to get any cards made even for the first day!  But one card design a day doesn't seem so bad, and once all the design decisions have been made, it isn't difficult to repeat the card while all the supplies are just sitting there.  Right?   lol.

Daria

ETA:  If I just CASE one of the many, many cards I've seen and loved, the design decisions will have already been made.

Oh yeah, CASE a card ... maybe I should go back and actually look at some of the cards I pin on Pinterest!  Good suggestions!

I am really looking forward to this!  Thanks so much for hosting.  I love your lofty goal (93) won't that be wonderful?!

I have company coming from out of state, my brother and SIL.  I should be cleaning right now  :(  so I might not get much done in the next few days, but I will sure try.  I even ordered a new stamp and die set  ;) . I posted on the Retail Therapy thread ... Art Impressions is having a 30% off sale, ends today or tomorrow July1st or 2nd ... I didn't think their wording was very clear.  I ordered the Christmas wreath that comes with dies to cut just the inside, or outside, or both ... and a bow.  They had a really cute sample.  Hey!  An idea for you Daria, they had a kitty peeking through the wreath.

ETA : if you go to Art Impressions, use code 30YEARS

Maybe this year I will get that Hanukkah card made?!

Cindi, I already hit the Art Impressions sale.  You didn't mention that if you spend $30, you get free shipping too.

I spent the morning cleaning the family/cat room.  Then my son came and we went shopping and out for lunch.  I now have a brand new modem/router.  I can now use my laptop in every room of the house.  I can now log into Netflix without a problem and use Chromcast too.  I am a happy camper.  I just now got back from visiting my sister and going to the grocery store.  I'm tired.  I think I'm going to bomb on the very first day of my challenge.  Now, I'm down to 90 cards. Sigh.

Sorry about that, yes, free shipping!  A game changer.  I don't like paying for shipping, I'd rather get more goodies.  $30 minimum is really reasonable too.

I chuckled out loud at your post Daria, and had to explain to my DH.  Bombing on the first day ... I thought, I should make a Christmas card today, in your honor ... but don't hold your breath, ha!  I have family coming for dinner and hopefully we'll run to a nearby park or the beach afterward to see a rocket launch*.  So, there goes the card making for today.  I need to clear my last project and purchases off the dining room table so we can eat there.

* We live a couple of hours south of Kennedy Space Center.  When SpaceX (and used to be shuttle) launches a rocket sometimes we can see the exhaust trail or even light from the rocket flame move through the sky.  It's even better on a clear evening.  At the beach you can see it better because they usually head south east and there are no trees and buildings in the way.  If we stay home, we watch on the laptop, then run out and stand in the middle of the street to look.

How about this?  At some point this week I am going to make Christmas cards.  I'll shoot for 5.  That's my goal!

Sounds good, Cindi--both the views and the goal.

This is 4th of July weekend so I do not expect many, if any, cards.

I just walked into the craft room, looked around and came back out.  I did, however, manage to order something I've wanted for quite a while, and I doubled the order so the prize for this challenge will be ready to go at the end of the month.

Now, I am thinking, thinking, thinking about my first card.  Something easy to ease my way back into cardmaking.  I've spent a lot of time looking at the cards I've saved to Pinterest and other sites that do Christmas cards.  It's coming; I feel it in my bones.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, and I hope you have the 3rd off as well as the 4th.

I have three (I think) uninked Christmas stamps from Deep Red stamps, and one or two sets I got for a buck at AC Moore.  So I think those are the ones I would really like to make into cards this month for a challenge, so that is at least 4, but hopefully more. I looked at my box of Christmas cards and there aren't that many in there, and a couple are leftover from last year.

Heidi, I was desperate last year so I think I used up most, if not all of my leftovers.  I need to check that out.

I just got home; I spent the day with my sister today, and I'll be going back tomorrow.  The good news is she is feeling so much better than she was yesterday.

Still no cards here.

I stamped something this morning!  Progress.

BTW.  Check your stash.  Do you have half-made holiday cards?  I know I have a bunch of stamped images somewhere.  I couldn't find them when I looked for them yesterday.  It's acceptable to use backgrounds and images you have previously stamped, colored, or made for this challenge.  The important thing is that you make it into a new card for the challenge.  Make sense?

Great idea to look in the half done projects or backgrounds box.

Daria, if I don't have to babysit this afternoon, I will start working on this.  My day is currently in limbo waiting to see if my friend needs my help.

We're in the same boat, Heidi.  I was gone during the day, and I'm spending the evening with my sister.

I have been slipping into the craft room to practice stamping an old image I bought on eBay.  I've been trying it with different inks and different amounts of pressure, stamp-to-paper, and paper-to-stamp.  It's a wood-mounted stamp.  I'm thinking of unmounting it so I can use it in the Misti.  That should solve all problems.  Love the image--worth the trouble.

I have finished four cards.  Plus I will have eight more when I receive my cardstock order from Gina K. Designs.  All I need is more Dark Chocolate cardstock.  That is what worked best, and I only had three pieces that came in a sampler pack.

I love this image, and I have searched for it for years and years.  No one ever wants to sell theirs so it almost never shows up on eBay, and if it does, it costs way too much.  I got this one because it was listed as Manufacturer Unknown.  There are no manufacturer markings on the wood block.  I'm a happy stamper.

ETA:  Something else I've been trying to find for years is the Cuttlebug Kars Snowflake (or Snowfall) embossing folder.  If you ever get a lead on that one and don't snap it up yourself, please let me know.  That's another one that no one will part with.  I wish they would just reissue it!

Lovely cards, Daria!  I love that image.  I believe I have seen a smaller version of it around, too. I always assumed it was an old stampin' up image. You featured it just perfectly.

I did make one card today!

I will be working on others too.

Cool card, Heidi!  I know what you mean about smudges.  When you have sections of white, they need to be pristine.  I have totally messed up cards when I didn't even realize my fingers were inky--especially CAS cards!

Those are some nice stamps Jan sent you.  I wonder how she is.

That's great, April.  I always love seeing your Christmas cards.

Now that you mention it, I don't even need 93 cards, but if I realize how doable that is, just three cards a day, maybe I'll make as many as I do need; or maybe I'll have cards for next year.  lol.

April, these are three wonderful cards!  I love all of them.  It must have taken a lot of patience to use the Stamp Gear Tool to make that your frame.  I love the gentle peacefulness of that card.  After seeing the wonderful cat at the window card, I searched and searched for the image.  Repeat Impressions Peaceful Observation, 2001-M.  I'm tempted.  Your last card gives me hope for an image that I have and ruined when I colored it.  Yours is beautiful.  I also like the layout; I wasn't quite sure what to do with  that size image.  Thank you for playing.  I hope to see more during July.

Well, I paid bills today and took my sister-in-law to the airport.  OK.  I looked at Pinterest too.

It looks like I'll have to make six cards tomorrow.  Wait,  I'm going to my sister's tomorrow since I had to cancel today.  OK.  Nine cards on Friday?  Getting an oil change on Friday.  Well, that won't take all day.  Right?

Did I mention that I have ordered the prizes?  I think you will like them.

I did a little stamping and watercoloring with Tombow markers today ... hopefully I will have something ready to post tomorrow.  I stamped a few more of the same image, should have stamped even more but suddenly it was time to make supper!

Daria, you looked at Pinterest, I spent too much time watching people use distress oxides on Youtube.  Ha!  And no one else mentions their oxide chalkiness rubbing off, humpf!  Finally forced myself to step away from the laptop and venture in to the craft room to look for the Christmas image I want to stamp.  At least you got your bills paid.  I only got as far as balancing the checkbook.  I'd better finish the bills tomorrow!

I'm loving the cards in the gallery so far!

I made 4 cards yesterday.  It is really dark and dreary this morning.  I am hoping it will get bright enough to photograph at some point.

Cindy, I also watch a lot of how-to videos.  Your comment about the oxide inks rubbing off had me out of my seat and rushing to the craft room.  I have several backgrounds I made using Distress Oxide Inks brushed or sponged through stencils.  I cautiously rubbed one finger in one corner of one background.  Nothing.  I tried a couple more.  Nothing.  I started rubbing in earnest.  Nothing.  I made these quite a while ago so they have definitely dried and cured.  Maybe you just need to let yours sit a while longer.  I remember reading about the difference between dry and cured when talking about some other product--don't remember which one, but I do remember the principle.  Actually, I don't remember them rubbing off even right after using them.  I'm pretty sure I touched them because they look so soft and lovely.  I'll stamp something later and try that out.  I'm headed out now to get the oil changed on my car.

Heidi, making four cards is great!  I'll look forward to seeing them.

I have my next card all made in my mind.  All I have to do is get to the craft room and start making them.  The longer I wait, the more of them I'll have to make to catch up with my quota.  At this rate, I'll have a dozen of each design!

Alright, it is still very rainy, but it seemed a touch brighter so I took the photos.

All of my cards were made with things from the background or scrap box.  Half done things.  3 of them use the same non traditional Christmas paper pad, I have been working on using it up.

This one the sentiment panel has been sitting around a while:
http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3390#top_display_media

This one, the card base has been sitting there with the patterned paper already on there. I can't remember what I originally was going to use it for.

This one uses a background from a previous fest:

This one uses a piece of embossed cardstock that has just been sitting there:

I finally finished the card I wanted to make in honor of Daria!  It has only taken me a few years, ha!

Merry Kiss-mas (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3394#top_display_media)

Thanks again for this very cute stamp Daria!  You Rak'd it to me a few years ago.  I've used it before, but I don't think I had time then to go ahead and make a shaker card out of it.  If I did it again I don't think I would bother to dry emboss the acetate.  I followed your advice (read your comments from way back when you made this card in a marathon class) and used my embossing buddy to go around the inside of the foam tape that makes the shaker box but I wish I also ran it over the acetate.  I don't know if the shaved ice is sticking to the acetate due to static or if it's hung up on the embossing.  Oh well, it looks sparkly all the time instead of only when shaken!  Also, I probably should have gone around the inside of the frame with a black marker to hide where I didn't trim exactly ... but I think it looks ok because there are some white bits in the frame border anyway, so it matches, ha!

I stamped 4 more card fronts and insides but I think I am going to try a quicker coloring method and probably not make them shakers (feeling lazy).  I'll show you those when I finish.

Time to go pay those bills I ignored yesterday.

Again, thank you so much for hostessing.  It is wonderful to see activity in the gallery and here in the forum again!

I stopped by just to check in, and I was amazed at all the Christmas cards!   You guys are rocking the gallery!

Cindi, I love your card.  I couldn't believe it has been years since you won that stamp; it seems like yesterday.  I went to my gallery and searched and searched.  I couldn't find it.  I was beginning to think I was losing my mind because I could remember making it.  Thanks for reminding me that it was a Marathon Class card!  I finally found it, Marathon Class of 2015!  lol.

April, three more wonderful cards.  The Wisemen card is my favorite of this batch--love it!

Heidi, I'm glad you were able to photograph your cards.  Four different cards; you're on a roll.  I'm going to pick the Peace cards as my favorites.  They just made me feel so peaceful when I saw them.  Lovely.

Does anyone else always try to pick a favorite when faced with more than one card in a post?  It's automatic with me.  Sometimes, I just can't do it; but, usually, something stands out for me at that particular moment, and it's easy.

I took my car in for an oil change as planned.  Why do they always come up with more things to do to the car?  Oh, yeah.  Profit.

I still haven't made it into the craft room as planned.  Darn.

I still haven't paid the bills!  :knuppel2:

I added more explanation in the comments of the Merry Kiss-mas card.  The card front is all one piece, the same size as the card base (A2).  I cut the inside out with a Fiskars Fingertip Craft Knife.  It might look like I mounted the frame to green but I think that is because of the way I watercolored.  I applied Tombow green marker all around the stamped frame and blended it out to the edges of the A2 piece with a wet watercolor brush. Clear as mud?  Just ask if I still haven't explained.

I just went to make Banana pudding ... warned DH (who said he's not crazy about bananas but keeps taking them in his lunch) to leave the last 2 bananas so I could make pudding.  Well, the bananas are there, but I have nowhere near enough vanilla wafers because apparently he's been snacking on those too!  I made mini cherry cheesecakes for the 4th and thought there would be plenty left for banana pudding.  I thought wrong!

Ok, now I need to pay the bills.

Cindy, you crack me up!

I meant to mention that I like it when some of the goodies in a shaker card stay where you can see them.  Jennifer McGuire actually glues a few sequins down so they don't all end up at the bottom when the card is on display; they also serve to catch some of the other bits of confetti and prevent them from all going to the bottom.

I have a good recipe for banana cake, and of course, you need very ripe bananas.  Once when I served it to company, my dad told everybody I had used rotten bananas!  Can you imagine?  lol.

April, I went looking for the embossing folder you used on your Wisemen card.  Of course, it's an old one, and there were very few cards using it, and none of them named it--just said it was by Cuttlebug.  Then one nice lady on Splitcoaststamper responded to someone who was also looking for a folder that with snowflakes and flourishes.  She linked her card and said it was the Cuttlebug Snowflake Flourish embossing folder.  She also said it was available as part of a package on HSN.  (That was in 2009!)  That made me go into the craft room and pull out an old set of five embossing folders in the Cuttlebug set, Winter Wonderland.  And there it was.  I love it when that happens.

I have two more cards made today, but wanted to see if I could get a third done.  I will probably post them tomorrow.

April, I love your cards.  My favorite one this time is the penguin card.  I just love the image and the background!  I made a bunch of shaving cream backgrounds years and years ago.  I didn't use them because no matter how long I aired them out, they still smelled like shaving cream.  I even put them outside to air out.  I did keep them, and years later, they were OK.  I have die-cut butterflies from one of them.  I sure wish that I'd made some red and green ones now!  I'd be in business for Christmas!

Heidi, I look forward to seeing your latest cards.

I, of course, am way off my goal.  Let's see.  Today is the 13th so I should have 39 cards by the end of today.  Not happening.  However, I just received an order for a cool die that is going to help me out.

Here are two cards. I never was able to come up with an idea for a third. I do have the image colored up though for when I do get an idea. I used two sketches for these cards.

Daria, enjoy your new die!

I have never tried the shaving cream technique. I don't seem to be able to figure out what stuff at the store would work. I know shaving cream has changed a lot over the years.

Heidi, I love your cards!  The image is darling.  I like the layouts and papers you used for both cards.  I know you'll come up with another idea for your third image.

This morning, I finished assembling my twelve Santa cards.  Finally.  So I'm now caught up with my Day 4 goal on Day 14.  Sigh.

Daria, that is great you got your 12 cards made! I admire your ability to reproduce them so well. I just don't seem to be able to create duplicates in any quantity!

WooHoo Daria, 12 cards finished!

I think I said I wanted to get 5 cards made by the end of the first week ... well it's the end of the 2nd week.
Oops, never did finish those ... but I made 5 new ones today using Connie's Partial Stamping technique AIR challenge.

Here is the first one I finished.  Christmas Greetings (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3417#top_display_media)

and here is a picture of the set of 5. (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ylgejsmp37t62v6/ChristmasGreetings1to5.jpg?dl=0)

Daria, here (https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/product?id=123635&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2o3a4eSO1QIVFB2BCh0vFQwVEAQYAyABEgLPfvD_BwE) is a link to the Tim Holtz stamp set I used for the poinsettia and greetings.  I like the fonts on the greetings.  I stamped the poinsettias on the inside too and used a peg stamp to stamp centers so I wouldn't have a bumpy inside.

Heidi and Cindi, your cards are wonderful.

Heidi, once I've made a card I like, it's easy to make a few more.  I do not usually make twelve the same--even at Christmas time.

Cindi, thanks for the link.  That's a really nice set, and I love the sentiments in it.  I like the way you grouped the sentiment and poinsettias on your card.

I have two cards to share.  I added one to Christmas all year folder, but the second is in the AIR17 folder in the gallery. I couldn't figure out how to add it to both.  I combined that card with Jan's CHILL challenge.

I created both from a quarter sheet of kraft cardstock that I had around from a previous fest or swap.  I had splattered iridescent pearl paint to it and was able to use this to make two little Christmas scenes.  I had fun adding cute images to them.

Here is the first card:

I just looked at Connie's again too, to see how she made her snow.  She has a blizzard, I have some flakes!  I definitely should put my paper in a box if I get out the toothbrush!  I made enough of a mess just tapping a fan brush.   I think Connie go the spirit of Jan's challenge the most.  I messed up!  Something happened between reading the instructions in the morning and coming up with a card at night!

Daria, where are your Santa cards?  Did you post them yet?  I'm off to check.

I do so totally advise you to do the splattering in a box, you should have seen my clothes and my desk when I got done, everything had a fine mist all over it, some things still do, was getting too hard to try and get that acrylic paint off  :-\

 O0 . Thankfully, I used a box!

Ok Daria, I made a total of 6 cards, yay!  Please count 3.

First two, with printed paper mats.
One (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3454#top_display_media)
Two (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3453#top_display_media)

And here is a closeup (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3457#top_display_media) of one with a blizzard on kraft card base!
Here's the picture of the 4 I finished today (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3458#top_display_media) including the one above.

This felt like one of those projects that wouldn't end at times!  So glad I stuck with it and got at least 6 done, inside and out.
Now I can clean up this mess and get on with another!

I'm laughing about the splattering.  I actually bought the Kemper Splatter Brush (https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Mark-Spatter-Wonder-Speckle/dp/B004WQHLO6).

Do you notice the metal wire that extends along the length of the brush?  It's attached to the piece of wood.  OK.  I dipped my brush into paint and then I carefully turned the piece of wood instead of the brush.  The wire went around the brush.  Guess where all the splatter went.  Yep.  Got it in one.  All over me.  All over the desk.  All over the tools on the desk.  Etc.  Sheesh!  It should have come with instructions!  In this case the biggest box in the world would not have saved me from my own uh, ignorance.  Even as I look at it now, that round piece of wood is begging to be turned!

Cindi, I love those Christmas cards!  It was brilliant to marry that mouse with your wreath and that sentiment.  Perfect!

Daria

Oh no, that is a bummer about the splattering, hopefully you didn't have too much paint on it... yes everything should come with instructions I totally agree.  I still have paint splatters on half of the things on my desk, guess we learn from our mistakes huh!
Title: Re: Winter Holiday Cards in July Challenge, 2017

That is why i don't do much splattering.  The area where I craft is carpeted.  Daria, I agree some instructions would be good!
Title: Re: Winter Holiday Cards in July Challenge, 2017
Post by: Iring on July 26, 2017, 03:43:06 PM
Daria, I would have done the same thing!

I think I had something similar back when I took tole painting classes.  I thought the wood part was more of a sleeve that you pulled back and forth over the brushes.  I don't see the benefit!  We can make just as big a mess with a toothbrush.

If you don't want to do any more spattering ... I saw that someone left a review saying they use it to remove bits of paper stuck in their wafer thin dies.  Maybe all is not lost!

I have some partially finished Christmas cards and I found some supplies buried on my desk ... I'm hoping to finish a few more Christmas cards.  July is flying too fast.

C'mon Daria, there's still a day and a half left in July.  Get some more cards posted!  Or at least some card parts.

I swore I was done with the mice and wreaths, but my sister was in town for the weekend so I sat and crafted with her and my Mom and cut and colored some more pieces.  It was easier (or so I thought) than coming up with a new card design ... still have to splatter and assemble.

Cindi, I was going to spend all day today and tomorrow making cards.  That plan went the same way as my three-cards-a-day plan.  I spent yesterday with my son for his birthday.  I went to his place, and it's about a 90-minute drive each way.  I've been tired all day today.  It's only 8:15, but I'm going to go to bed with a book.

Maybe tomorrow will be better?

I did sort through my dies after you mentioned the new ones I plan to use.

Thanks for the cheer leading.  We do have one more full day left.

I really planned to spend the day in the craft room today--the last day of the challenge.  Then things happened.  I ended up going to the bank and sending a MoneyGram to Peru this morning (lots of waiting at the bank, an amazingly short line for the MoneyGram); and this afternoon, I fell asleep while checking my email.  I woke up when my sister called that her daughter had to go to the doctor's right away to hear the results of her CT Scan.  Both were totally panicked.  My sister can't drive right now because she's recovering from a painful procedure.  I just got back now from that visit.  The first opinion was not anywhere near as bad as they thought it would be, but the doctor wants her to get a second opinion.  Stanford, here we come.

So.  I am really tired (woke up at 2:30 this morning).  There is no way I'm going to make cards tonight.  Tomorrow???  Right now, I'm happy I have a dozen Christmas cards I didn't have before the challenge.  I like to look at the bright side.

For anyone out there who still has a bit of energy, the challenge is not over until 11:59 pm your time.  Any takers?

Daria

Daria, so sorry your last few days didn't go as planned.  Your family needed you more.  12 cards is wonderful!  I didn't realize you'd finished so many.

I made one more new card tonight.  Last week I started trying to pick up the craft room and I uncovered two die sets and a pack of 6x6 paper I won from the LSS.  I went to the LSS today (1 hour away) and I really wanted to use the things she'd gifted me ... I hope to do more with these.  Maybe in August?

Here is my shiny foil snowflake (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3472#top_display_media) card.

I'm still working ... but probably not on any more new designs tonight.

Well, maybe one more!  On a roll

Snowflake joy (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=3473#top_display_media)

I tried using a new to me adhesive.  It's a sheet of sticky dots, but some of the dots pull up on the release paper, which you are supposed to put back down on top of the die to burnish it.  So that means they ended up on top of the foil, ugh!  I used rubbing alcohol on a q-tip to try to clean up the mirror/foil.  It's called Artist-tac by Grafix.

Daria, thanks so much for offering this challenge again.  You really got me motivated.

I just tallied 'em up.
I made 9 more mouse in a wreath - "creatures are stirring" cards this weekend.  I just have to glue the card fronts, and card insides to the card bases.  Once they are done I will have 27 cards made in July!  WooHoo!

15 Creatures are stirring
  5    Music Background with poinsettias
  1    Snowman shaker card
  4    Snowman non-shaker cards
  1    Red/teal Snowflake card
  1    Orchid/purple Snowflake card

That helps make up for the fact that I hadn't really been making Christmas cards much up till this month.

Tomorrow starts another month.  Already?!  I'll try to post a Christmas All Year challenge.  I hope we can keep the ball rolling!

I enjoyed taking second looks at all of your cards.  They are wonderful!  Thank you so much for playing along this month.

I wrote all of your names (some of your names many, many times--lol), and cut them down and folded them up and put them in my straw hat.  I bounced them around a bit.  Then I waited for Heidi to come home to do the honors.  However, she is still not home!

So.

I bounced those pieces of paper around a bit more.  Then I waited some more.  I really wish everyone could win a prize.  But . . .

OK.

I've made you wait long enough.

So I bounced those pieces of paper one last time, reached in, and picked one up.

I opened it.

And guess who won.

No.  Really.  Guess.

Cindi, you are the grand prize winner!

Congratulations.

Now.  Remember the Verses Old World Santa (http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=52&pid=3421#top_display_media) image?  I bought two of those stamps.  If anyone who participated in this challenge would like to have one, I will send it to you.  I actually prefer the unknown image I have and was disappointed at the difference in the eyes.  On the other hand, I've seen cards made with the Verses image that I loved.  I think the cardmaker compensated for the eyes when coloring the image.  Check out the comparison on this blog (https://colourstock.blogspot.com/2015/10/dear-santa.html?showComment=1493648015407#c3268979697120608641)--the second photo from the top.  The top row she stamped with different color inks, and then on the bottom row, she shows how she added color with different coloring media.

Anyway.  If anyone who participated in this challenge would like one of these stamps, I have two to give away.  Let me know.  First come, first served.

Cindi, have you moved in the last year or two?
