Creative Challenge: Ombré
|
I made this card for Heidi's Ombré Challenge. I watched the videos she linked and several more on The Mind of Watercolor channel. The artist there has a series of three videos about color washes with lots of tips. I didn’t get around to making a background until last night. I really should have watched the videos again because I didn’t remember all those good tips. I tossed my first effort. This is the second one. I wish I had managed to leave it white at the bottom of the piece. Heidi, thank you for the inspiration.
For my ombré background, I brushed water over the entire piece before adding color to the top. Then I added more water to get the color to move down the page. I alternated between adding more color and more water.
I had to convert the wood-mounted stamp to a cling stamp so I could use my stamp positioner. I needed to stamp a few times to get a complete and dark image on the watercolor paper.
