Fresh colors challenge and Die Cut Swap
|
I made this card using Dee’s pinterest board of fresh Christmas/winter colors schemes. I tried to use distress ink colors as much as possible-fired brick, broken china, peacock feathers, and pine needles and as needed fern green archival as well as Memories unicorn white pigment ink.
I decided to use the color scheme photo (next to last row on Pinterest) as my inspiration…I used the bokeh background and flower as focal image. The poinsettia is stamped in archival fern green ink and water colored on Strathmore paper. The center is accented with opal liquid pearls and overall with Wink of Stella.
The base behind the flower on the left is a lattice piece from the Tim Holtz the mixed media die set and on right is an evergreen branch from the Tim’s winter greens die set. And the terrific tag at the bottom is from Cindi’s die swap package…thank you! I colored it with a round blending tool to achieve the background color as well as darker color on the word “Merry”. I also sponged Tim’s faded dot stencil over top in white unicorn ink.
The bokeh background is first water colored and then stenciled with white ink added in a circular motion with a blending tool (so much easier on circle stencils than a tapping motion). Added Mercury Glass stickles around the evergreen.
